So Daxton knew his history, he had done as much reading on the subject as possible, in both the normal and magical world, and he found it quite interesting.
He did not like dressing up.
He also did not have a favourite witch or wizard from magical history, which made it all the more difficult. Daxton peeked into the classroom for a moment, to see how idiotic everyone else looked so far, then turned his attention back to the selection of potential costumes.
A jellyfish hat suddenly caught his eye, and Daxton made a grab for it and snatched it off the rack before anyone else could get it. Uric the Oddball. Sure. He seemed interesting enough, and perhaps it would give him enough creative licence to be about to take his shoes off before going inside. The classroom rules said the appropriate footwear had to be worn, but Daxton figured that at least once in his life, Uric the Oddball must have gone without shoes, so he kicked his own off and shoved them into his bag. Much better.
Spinning the hat around his hand rather than wearing it on his head (because it did look ridiculous and he did not actually want to wear something like that unless it was entirely by choice), Daxton entered the classroom and took up the seat that was as close to the door as he could get, as per his regular routine. Now largely ignoring everyone else in the room, he set his jellyfish hat on his desk and got out his History of Magic textbook to look over before they got started.
