Personality: Nolan generally is a bit of a reserved person, although he also isn't one to turn down a conversation if someone comes up to him and starts talking. When he starts feeling comfortable he becomes more outgoing, and once you get to know him really well and he really starts feeling comfortable in his environment his playful side comes out and he likes to crack a joke or two he thinks he's funnier than he really is.

He's also very kind and cannot STAND rude or arrogant people. He tries to gain everyone's respect and if someone doesn't like him, it tends to drive him a bit insane (this may also explain why he's so into fashion and looking good--he wants people to like him!). He's also a perfectionist and you better hope you never accidentally break one of his beloved crystal orbs--he might die a little inside.

In his spare time, Nolan can be found reading or catching up on the latest sports news--muggle sports, that is. He's a huge football fan. His love for books was the main reason that he got involved in the bookstore. After years of working at the store and making exponential profit from his invest, he decided it was time to move to yet another new career in his life - author. His first book A Beginner's Guide to Crystal Gazing took off much faster than he expected, and he was able to sell the bookstore in the Fall of 2088 and move his family to a spacious family home in Swiss Cottage, upgrading them from the loft the family had been crammed in so Nolan could be close to work.

History: Nolan was born in London, England. His mother, Pamela, was an Irish muggle woman, and his father Charlie was a wizard from London, so Nolan was raised in a mostly muggle neighborhood, all the while helping to hide his father's true identity from the neighbors. However, as he grew older he began to act out, getting into trouble in his muggle school for skipping school and nearly getting kicked out a couple of times. He simply didn't see the need to do well in muggle school if he was just going to be sent off to Hogwarts. When the time came for him to go away, however, his father decided he wasn't mature enough to be sent away to school, and kept him home his first year and told him he could go to Hogwarts as soon as he proved that he could handle being away from home and learning magic.

Crushed by the fact that he was missing his first year of school, Nolan shaped up immediately and worked very hard on his homeschooling, isolating himself from the friends that had convinced him to act out in class previously. At the end of the year, his father was impressed and agreed to let him go to school in the fall to start his second year. After being homeschooled, he was determined to prove to his father that his good behavior streak could last. He excelled in all his classes but took a particular interest in Divination. After a few months in that class, he realized that he was incredibly accurate in his predictions most of the time and began to do a little research--as it turns out, he had a very distant relative in Germany who was a Seer, although since then he has only made one significant prediction his whole life. (If you're curious, he correctly predicted the name and age of the man that his sister Eliza eventually married, as well as the date they were going to get married). His gift fizzled away after his teaching days, but recently resurfaced as he began doing more in depth research for his book. He doesn't normally have "visions" or prophecies, but his readings are often very accurate.

In his sixth year, Nolan became the male prefect for Hufflepuff, but quit after that term so he could focus on his NEWTs the next year without worrying about patrols and other prefect duties. He also had a difficult time balancing school and prefect duties and was simply unhappy, although he has thankfully worked on his time management skills since then.

While at school, Nolan also discovered his love for learning, which came as a shock to anyone who had seen the young rebel grow up (including himself). After he graduated he continued to study numerous subjects by himself, buying new textbooks when they came out so he could be up to date on all the new findings in his areas of interest, including Divination. While he tried to find a job, Nolan lived at home and made extra money by giving Tarot card readings on the streets of Diagon Alley. Just as the buzz about his accurate predictions began to grow, however, he found a job at the Ministry working in the Spirit Division on Level 4, since he was highly fascinated with ghosts and spiritual beings in the afterlife. After three years in that office, he applied for a transfer to the Department of Mysteries, where he bounced around different divisions until working in the Hall of Prophecies. He held this job until he joined the school staff in 2071, a position he held for two years.

Sadly, Nolan came down with clinical anxiety once again in his second year of teaching. He had always been a bit of a more anxious fellow (hence the reason he had to drop out as prefect his 6th year) and was unable to devote the mental time and attention to his post. He knew he wasn't doing the students any good by not focusing fully on his teaching job, and his relationship with Ginger began to crumble, so he left his position, giving it up to someone he knew would be able to reach out and help students the way they deserved.

Present Day: Thankfully, he has since improved his lifestyle dramatically. Never one to stick with a job for too long, he became Junior Undersecretary to the Minister before finally buying a small shop on the edge of Diagon Alley and opening a secondhand Muggle and Magical bookstore. Ginger completed her Healer training after the birth of their daughter, Scarlett, and now that both parents are receiving a steady income, they are continuing to add to their growing family.

Nolan joined the Board of Governors so he could make sure Hogwarts would be a safe and happy environment for his child and all the other wizarding children of Great Britain. He also wanted to get more funding for the less appreciated subjects such as Divination and Herbology. After joining, he was promoted to Vice President of the Board. He eventually stepped down when it became too hard for him to balance his growing business as well as his position on the Board.

Because of his anxiety Nolan has forced himself to become extremely organized and responsible--all of his documents in his home office are organized to a T. He is also friendly and outgoing and works very well with others, an obviously beneficial quality needed when working with such an important group of individuals. While he is usually hesitant at first, he is willing to take up leadership positions especially since he has always regretted not doing more house related activities such as HoH while at the school.

After the unexpected successful launch of his book in 2088, Nolan sold the bookstore and moved to Swiss Cottage with his family. He took a job as Spirit Liaison part time and eventually ran for Minister for Magic, but lost respectfully to his long time friend Althea Scabior. After this, Nolan retired from the Ministry for good (or so he said) and is currently working from home, writing his next Divination textbook, which is going to be more a generalized summary of the craft as opposed to one specific area.

After taking a few years off, he returned to the Ministry (see? Told you he wasn't done there) as an Unspeakable, where he currently works.

HISTORY AND PERSONALITY
Scarlett Pamela Reynolds, named after her mother's favorite literary character and her father's mother, is the first born child of Nolan and Ginger Reynolds. Nolan Reynolds was formerly the Divination Professor at Hogwarts who left his post to marry his Hogwarts sweetheart. A few years later, Scarlett was born.

From the start, Scarlett has been a firecracker who delights in driving her parents crazy. She always marches to the beat of her own drum and is extremely outgoing and energetic. Many times the new parents would lose her in the streets of Diagon Alley, where she loved to explore and play pretend in all the nooks and crannies of the wizarding marketplace. She loves talking to people, whether it's old friends or complete strangers, and has a very optimistic outlook on life. Her father instilled a very deep love of books in her from an early age and she loves to learn. She is constantly looking to try new things, but can be very impatient at times and often doesn't wait to get things done even when it may be in her best interest to do so.

Like her parents, she is a very loyal person and values her friendships - her relationships with other people are the most important things in her life. She can overlook people's faults, even if they don't deserve it, and it takes a lot to break that trust. She is very honest and values being a very hard worker, even if she does sometimes jump into things too quickly without thinking them through. Her tendency to jump in to things without thinking likely stems from the fact that she is not very observant, and often doesn't care much about what is going on around her if it doesn't pertain directly to her.

Since she was about 8 years old, Scarlett helped run her father's second hand bookstore. Often times she just ran the register or sat around reading the many books in the shop until her father sold it after her first year of Hogwarts. Out of all her siblings, Scarlett feels she is the closest to her father. Part of her outgoing personality comes from the need to stand out amongst her brothers and sisters, and remind everyone who the REAL queen bee of the family is. She will never admit it, but she definitely does things to antagonize her siblings sometimes, including locking Clay in a hamper one time to stop him from eating the last cookie, purposely teaching Zoey how to use her mum's makeup at the age of 2, and stealing Evie's glasses multiple times.

Nolan is a Seer, although as of right now, none of his children seem to have inherited the "Inner Eye". However, the Reynolds children have all inherited a strong liking for the subject and real talent for Divination - but none of them have shown any signs of being a real Seer at this point. Scarlett personally thinks some branches of Divination are nonsense, but loves to read tarot cards and tea leaves.

THE HOGWARTS YEARS

FIRST YEAR
Scarlett entered her first year with lots of excitement and positivity - until she got to school and realized that a HAG was teaching her favorite subject, Divination! Scarlett was distraught, as it had been the one subject she had been looking forward to the most, being a daughter of an ex-professor and Seer. Things only got worse when the hag actually tried to EAT a student during the lesson, and escaped into the woods. She had all these grand visions of how Divination, her father's subject, would be at school, and all of it came crashing down around her.

Despite having an awful start to her Divination career, she tried to look on the bright side and make friends during her first year and start out her Hogwarts year on a good foot. She was sorted into Hufflepuff, which was no surprise to her since both of her parents had been in that house. She instantly clicked with her outgoing dorm mates. She also had a few interesting encounters with a china doll, but nothing ever seemed to come of that (or at least if it did, she didn't notice as she was too wrapped up in her studies) She finished on the top points earner list, which was one of her goals for her first year. All in all, it had been a successful year, and she left feeling like she had done her best and was ready for the next year to be just as good.

SECOND YEAR
Scarlett's second year started off better than her first, now that she was better acquainted with her roommates and her cousin Juliette was now attending school with her as well. Once again she finished on the top of the points board, but the final half of her year was spent focusing on more outside issues. Her father announced that he was running for Minister for Magic, and she and her cousin Juliette spent their free time making pins and fliers to help him in his campaign.

Scarlett was also distracted a bit this year by the fact that her father announced he was selling his business so they could move to a suburb and buy a large house with a white picket fence - something Scarlett was super excited about because it meant she got her own room for the first time in her life, which she promptly painted a bright shade of pink.

THIRD YEAR
Over the summer, Scarlett's father lost the race for Minister, which was upsetting, and it seemed as though Scarlett inherited her father's anxiety. She started to worry more and more about her public image and popularity, not focusing on her studies and instead falling into a slump. She also started to worry about her brother attending Hogwarts the following year, worrying how that would affect her popularity. She ended up doing less than stellar in her classes, and promptly decided she needed to start seeing a counselor over the summer to work out her anxiety issues.

It worked, and she was very excited and eager to return to school - until she got hit with a nasty bout of bronchitis that turned in to pneumonia. Scarlett missed over half of her fourth year.

FOURTH YEAR
The one good thing about getting sick with pneumonia was meeting Maurice Gladin - better known as Jimmy. Scarlett met the Beauxbaton's boy while he was interning at St. Mungos during her stay, and they two stayed in touch throughout the year. They began officially seeing each other over the Christmas holiday, although Scarlett assumed this meant they were exclusive and told all her friends about her new "boyfriend".

When she finally returned to school in March, she buried her head in her books and was able to make up her work before school let out for the summer. She made sure to stay FAR away from the portal and the monster, thank you very much, and made sure her younger brother Clay, who was now attending Hogwarts, did the same. While she was originally upset about Clay starting school with her, she ended up loving having him in her house. She could see him as much as she wanted but still escape to her dorm if he was being annoying, and he ended up being a great study partner!

Things turned sour almost immediately after returning home for the summer, though, when Jimmy came to visit the Reynolds family. Initially excited for a summer with her beau, he made it quite clear that he was not interested in dating JUST Scarlett, and she promptly broke things off, heartbroken.

FIFTH YEAR
During her fifth year, Scarlett and the rest of her Hogwarts peers got the unique opportunity to have Ilvermorny students visit for the IMPS competition. While she had initially wanted to make friends with her American counterparts, she found that watching them battle it out amongst each other was far more entertaining! Predictably, she threw her her support behind the Hufflepuff champions, as well as the rest of the Hogwarts competitors. In the final challenge she was pulling for Brent Westwood,
simply because she thought he was the cutest.

SIXTH YEAR
While the rest of Hogwarts worried about painted hawks and students being cursed, Scarlett was selfishly focused on herself. She began to focus more on what she wanted to do AFTER school, trying to figure out careers related to Divination that were NOT teaching or writing (like her father).
She also focused on getting her grades back up, as the past two years her grades had been less than stellar. She mostly kept her head down but instead focused on strengthening her relationship with her brother, and by the end of the year they were closer than they had ever been.

SEVENTH YEAR
Despite focusing less on her studies this term, Scarlett passed her NEWTs with flying colors at the end of the term. Her head had been elsewhere during the latter half of term - having a brief fling with Flynn Kowalski provided a distraction from NEWT stressors, although she eventually dumped him in favor of Benton Primeaux, and the two began dating slowly afterwards. She also got in to a small tiff with her roommate and best friend Saffron Stemp when Saffron's boyfriend, Alby, sent flowers to Scarlett (as a FRIENDLY GESTURE) for Valentine's Day that ended in Saffron almost setting Scarlett's bed on fire.

Despite the drama, she decided on attending university, although at the time she was undecided on her major.
