Personality

• He doesn't want you to know more than you need to - and what you need to know is nothin'. In public, Fletcher is generally polite and friendly toward most people unless you're one who has already done something to grind his gears (he holds a mean grudge). He has mastered the art of charming people to get what he wants, and usually maintains an even and cheerful temperament, although his tattoo will sometimes show when he is annoyed.
  
• Fletcher (don’t even try calling him Duncan) tends to live by the philosophy that actions speak louder than words. His priorities have changed some in the last few years, with his largest goal now being to provide a legacy for his kids, a comfortable life for his family, and a profitable business for his offspring to inherit. He is still loyal to a fault, and will fight for his friends and family when required. He is very protective of his family first and his finances second, and those two loves drive everything he does (or doesn't do).

History

Bernadette did not know a n y t h i n g about the wizarding world until her mum handed her a letter from the post. It took all of the Granthams quite a while to believe this wasn't a prank, and took Hogwarts approximately six letters of owl post before the Granthams confirmed Bernadette's attendance.

Some of her family are still doubtful that "Hogwarts, the Boarding School" exists, although her mum did help her navigate Diagon Alley and buy all her school supplies. Bernie is anxious to fit in with the wizard kids, and has many, many preconceived and incorrect notions of what magic is like. She is too headstrong to admit when she is wrong, and embarrasses easily when someone points out her faults. However, she is enthusiastic when trying something new, friendly when around other kids, and courageous when threatened with an obstacle.

Year One (2099-2100): Her favorite classes included Transfiguration, Charms, and DADA, with her least favorites being Muggle Studies why does she need this class?, and surprisingly, Care of Magical Creatures. She was nearly a hatstall (Hufflepuff was the Sorting Hat's other choice for her) and attempted to learn some French, for her first year took place at Beauxbatons (due to the boggart invasion of Hogwarts). Also in her first year, Headmaster Trent suspended Bernie from school instead of expelling her per Desmarais' demands and sent her home due to her participation she raised her wand at the Headmistress in a fire/gargoyle attack in the Rose Garden during Care of Magical Creatures class. Bernie's wand was also attacked/broken by a Gargoyle then, though it was later repaired by Headmaster Trent. After a lecture from her parents and a very, very long and magic-less Christmas break, Bernie returned to school slightly more subdued. She behaved in MOST of her lessons, but was then accused (along with approx. 50 other people) of RUINING the decorations for the forthcoming school ball. Bernie was forced to attend a trial wherein Headmistress Desmarais expelled every Hogwartian from Beauxbatons, but then hastily invited them back so they could help her find the dragon that the French pupils had snuck into school. After this fiasco, the dragon!baby was caught, the second fire in the rose garden was extinguished, and Hogwarts was allowed to stay and have a ball in lieu of a feast.

Other highlights from her first year: attempting to rob the snack corner on the train, baking magic cookies with Freyr, mapping Beauxbatons, helping Headmaster Trent not become lost, officially becoming Schmoe's assistant professor, helping Ilya Belrose discover that he was a metamorphmagus, apple exploding, dancing lessons, and other lesson shenanigans with Blake Ryan and Claudine Blaze, meeting a house elf in Charms, losing points in Potions, being accused of ruining the ball with everyone else, firefighting and dragon-watching with Cece Summers and Phoebe James, and dancing at the feast with Rowan and Blake. Oui.

Year Two (2010-2101): Bernie met Elias on the train and was persuaded to ride the first-year boats across the lake to Hogwarts, since she didn't get to do that last year and all.

v. Defining physical features: Tall, dark, and handsome, William usually has a little scruffle on his cheeks because he’s too lazy to shave every day. Other than that, he’s most identifiable by his two tattoos, whose locations shall remain a mystery.

Background:

Born into the unfortunate Williamson family with their love of all things “W,” young William Walter Williamson was destined for a life of bad luck. For one thing, he shared initials with a joke shop, where he actually worked as a teenager, and for another, he was clumsy from the get-go. Tall, left-handed, and gangly as a youth, Willy barely made it on the Quidditch team (he was mostly a reserve) and it was only because of his flailing limbs that he ever succeeded as a Keeper.

When it came to classes, William scraped by in most of his subjects, due to equal amounts of lack of interest and lack of motivation. Will did exceed in Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, and Defense Against the Dark Arts, however, since those were the few subjects that allowed him to move around and actually DO things. He also managed average, passing grades in Charms, Transfiguration, and Potions, for pretty much the same reasons, and was able to get into Wizarding University by a rare stroke of luck.

When it came to relationships, however, Will was not so fortunate. Although he had a lot of male friends at Hogwarts, the ladies were not as impressed as they were by Will’s ability to imitate a perfect fart or burp the entire school song. Despite the efforts of his best friend Oliver Jenkins, who was, shall we say, his “partner in crime” and “wingman,” Will remained dateless for most of his teenage years. His other close ally was Waylon Murdoch, who somehow persuaded both Olly and Willy to join him on a trip around the world the year after their graduation. Willy happily deferred his University enrollment to join his friends, and enjoyed the entire trip, save for when he was bitten by a Mackled Malaclaw near the end of the trip. Despite the bite, Will had already decided that he wanted to spend his life exploring the awesome plants and creatures of the world and working with them as closely as possible.

He started out at at the Edinburgh campus of WU with a major in Cryptozoology, but quickly picked up Wizarding Communications as well, since he found his first major so easy. In between working with all the animals on campus, and traveling every break he had, Will fell hard for a simple witch named Kate. He was heartbroken when he revealed his feelings for her shortly after graduation and was disappointed to find out that she did not feel the same. She found him cute and rather endearing, especially at the way he was able to endure so many accidental animal bites, stings, and burns, but he was just not her type. She was into the rich Healer students anyway, and once again Will was out of luck.

Feeling rather embittered and lonely, Will went off to find himself and to put his new degree to good use. He packed up and went off to live at the Romanian Dragon Reserve, making a good living there as a dragon keeper, tamer, and breeder until one late-night gamble lost him two year’s savings in one fell swoop. Damn goblins.

Broke and now looking for work, Will heard of the opening at Hogwarts and immediately applied. He was pleasantly surprised to get the job and is actually looking forward to this year. Working with kids should be laid back and easy enough, right?

And it was. Willy stayed at Hogwarts, happily, for two terms. But at the end of his second term, he felt a tugging at his heartstrings; an urge to see the growth and development of his rare dragon all the way through. So he, along with his besties William and Oliver, submitted his letter of resignation at the 2078 end-of-term feast and left Hogwarts for now, anyway behind.

He is currently residing somewhere in Romania, assisting in dragon taming, dragon research and capture, and dragon educational programs at a local wizarding university branch. Roro is still with him, every now and then.

Personality:

Lazy, unlucky, clumsy, and funny would be words fit to describe 30 year-old Will. He still has his boyish good looks but a few scars – mostly from working with dragons – have colored his face and arms a bit. He’s not sure how to handle children, since he often still acts like a child himself, but he feels perfectly qualified to teach them all. Confidence. Right. Every good Slytherin has confidence… and a little bit of cunning.

Fun Facts:

• Will was bitten by a Mackled Malaclaw at age 18 and was also struck by lightning during that same week
• He has since been struck by lightning two other times, albeit on different occasions
• He loses misplaces his wand an average of three times per year
• He has worked with every breed of dragon and has ridden/flown upon most of them
• He has had his eyebrows shaved off, had fireworks go off in his pocket and set his leg on fire, has fallen off a balcony and onto a cactus, and has stepped on a hedgehog, porcupine, and jellyfish, each at least twice... amongst other animal-related accidents, such as being scratched by a hippogriff (more common than you'd think) and being burned by a blast-ended skrewt
