The critter truly reminded him of his pet toad Princess...and it made him sad that she had gone too soon. Urgh...he hated those spiders. He wished them banished far, far away from here but he knew he couldn't do anything about it because the forbidden forest was their home too. Sighing... He looked back up to Adi,"Are you still training Gus to enter him in a toad racing competition, Adi?"he asked, remembering the promises they had but it just not meant to be...
"Umm...yeah,"Henric muttered a reply. Honestly, he wasn't sure himself if he was ready to hear it. But he had decided, didn't he? Maybe it was time to face the demons of his past again and learn to forgive what shouldn't have been forgiven long ago. He could handle it, right? He wasn't a young disobedient child anymore, he was much older and wiser now. He hadn't thrown a tantrum for years after they took him inside the orphanage.
"I don't know Adi...I stopped hoping when I realised noone was coming back for me,"he told Adi truthfully. "All I remembered was waking up in that dark alleyway with no recollections of who I was and why I was there. I tried to ask for help...I really did...but there were people trying to do more harm than good..." Henric paused, trying to shake the bad memory off his head."Anyway...when the ministry people finally got a hold on me, they couldn't find my birth rights in the registry either...it was as if I was ghost... maybe the one who left me there didn't want me because I w-was different,"he glanced away, remembering the hurtful words uttered by those adults and some kids in his orphanage. Thank merlin... for his adoptive parents who had found him and nurtured him well throughout the rest of his childhood.
"Good point, Henny. I guess I'm just putting off having to study Runes by re-reading the entire Potions book. Hey, we could always study for CoMC together if you want. Or whatever subject you're weak in, I can help you with.'' After all, both boys did have major exams at the end of the term. And that question...
"Yeah, I am for when you get another toad,'' Adi replied cautiously, knowing that this was still a super sensitive subject. Gus, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy being in the spotlight. The toad gave Henric one great, big lick on the hand. Hehe.
Sitting on his bed, his knuckles of his left hand clenched tightly when Henric said that there were persons who wanted to do more harm than good. Yeah, Adi may be bubbly and optimistic all the time but he knew very well what the world was like. He hurt for his buddy and not for the last time was thankful that he had been nice to the other boy ever since meeting him. At least his teasing had made him laugh loads, yeah?
"They had to be stupid if the they didn't want you.'' The seventh year watched Gus hop towards Henric's chair. Maybe the toad sensed something was off with him because it kept looking up at him while croaking softly.
"Have you ever thought that maybe it was better they left you? Who knows what kind of life you would have had if you stayed with them.'' Especially if they didn't want him as Henric seemed to think.
"Or maybe circumstances pushed them to leave you behind.'' Adi really didn't know about the reasons but he knew one thing...
"Ilia and I don't care how different you think you are, you know. Neither do your adoptive parents, I'm sure.''
