After being perched on Austin's back for a little while, Paulina had decided that it was a good time for her to give her wings a little stretch and see how easily she could get a hang of this flying thing. As of yet she hadn't left the ground far behind, but there were trees that she could explore. So long as she didn't leave her partner far behind - which she wouldn't - things would be fine.
With another "SQUAWK!" She was off. It felt strange and wonderful to be able to fly but she hadn't really gotten the hang of it yet so her movements became a little jerky after a moment. She needed to get used to this and it wasn't good to get tired out so easily. She had just started!! Maybe she would find herself a nice tree that wasn't too far from the ground and settle in there.
Liking the sound of that idea, Paulina soared around the area while still feeling a little unsteady. It was nice to get an overhead view of the pathways but she was not leaving Austin far behind. Otherwise she would have seen how far she could go before becoming too tired to fly anymore. As it was, she spotted a tree that looked perfect to settle in on. Carefully she made her way towards it before landing on one of the branches. It was weird being so small, and she hopped around a little on her new perch. Everything seemed to be so much bigger here; it was crazy!! Paulina wasn't sure if she liked it or not, but at least she could fly and that was something.
Hopping around some more, she explored the branch before soaring to the one above it. This branch was bigger and there was a hole in the tree. Maybe something was living inside there, but Paulina wasn't too sure that she wanted to see for herself. She'd leave that kind of thing for the Gryffindors because even as a parrot she was still a Hufflepuff and not very brave.
Staring inside the dark hole, Paulina started to feel weird again; the potion was wearing off!! Had it already been 20 minutes? Where had the time gone?
She was back to her old self and stuck in a tree. Just great. At least the branch was pretty sturdy. Sighing, she set about climbing down... |
