No. Wait.
Mentally frowning, kitten!marsha stumbled backwards before falling over her tail with a painful yelp and collapsing in a heap on her back. As she struggled to roll onto her side, she eyed him more. Duchess only fluffed up and tried to look as big as possible if she was scared… why was Lance scared of HER? Could he really not remember that SHE was the kitten.
However, she wasn’t going near him until he calmed down so she looked around. Ohhh ball! Moving to it, she grinned as she realised it was one of the balls they had been using to practise with in charms and she moved up onto her back legs so that she could play with it. Or. At least. She attempted to.
As she moved up onto her back legs, they gave way under her and she fell forward, only just managing to put her front legs down in time to catch herself. Slowly, ever so slowly she raised herself up again, on very very shaky legs she managed to pat and tap at the ball, her tail swinging from side to side to try and balance herself out as she played.
Hehehee. Seeee, the transfiguration balls were fun and helpful… Though they were REALLY big in comparison to her kitten!form… not that that was hard - everything was big. Really BIG.
Glancing back, she saw her tail wagging (she had a white tail tip too - in case you were wondering) and saw Lance. Had he chilled out yet? Did he remember chess w-
CHESS.
Forgetting the ball, and with a sudden burst of energy she bounded over to where the old chessboard was sitting on the floor in front of the sofa… exactly where he had placed it ten or so - fifteen, five, thirty? - minutes before. She moved slowly and then placed her pace on the spot where the Queen would start.
His best female friend. The Queen. Her. Yes? Twisting around so he was on his stomach again, he looked straight back towards where the black and white cat was, watching it's every movement. He'd never seen this one in the common room before. Then again, he didn't spend much time here, much preferring to be outside.
Speaking of fun, the ball the cat was playing with looked... fun. Could he do that too?
What he wasn't expecting was the cat to go NEAR HIS CHESSBOARD NO. Flinging into the air, he hopped sideways towards the cat, unable to really control doing that BUT HE NEEDED TO DO IT. The young Gryffindor stopped on the other side of the chessboard, tail flicking randomly and all ready to POUNCE in case the cat felt like scratching his precious hand-me-down game. Though the cat's paw wasn't scratching. It was just sitting there. ON HIS GAME SET.
On the Queen position to be exact. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. That was Marsha's spot. TAKE IT OF-
...
Kitten!Lance dropped onto his belly, ears back, and eyes wide and apologetic.
Oh.
