Can cats laugh? Well Janelle was certainly laughing on the inside at Angel's antics. She was on her back and actually, that looked like fun. Imitating her friend, Janelle laid down, rolled onto her back and put her little paws in the air. "Whee look at me", she thought. Being a cat wasn't all bad.
Oh oh. Janelle rolled over into a normal cat position. She had the sudden urge to lick her paws. "No", she thought. "That would be totally disgusting." She could not possible lick her hairy paws. Janelle preferred her baths the old fashioned way.......in a tub. But the urge was soooo strong and she had to really fight it. Looking down at Angel for help, Janelle said,
"Meow". Maybe she could meow her out of it.
Janelle's paw started to rise against her will and she tried to push it back down. At the same time, she could feel her tongue trying to stick out. Her Janelle mind was battling her cat body and for several minutes, the struggle continued. Finally the cat in her won out and Janelle began to lick her paws. As if that wasn't bad enough, she then proceeded to lick her cat fur everywhere she could reach. Janelle was all kinds of horrified, but she could not help herself.
Suddenly, Janelle saw something more interesting than her paw fur. There was a crumpled piece of parchment on the floor, apparently discarded by a student. A toy! Janelle leaped down from the window seat and ran toward the piece of trash. She batted it with her paw and then batted it again. This time she directed her "ball" toward Angel.
"Meow", she said, hoping that Angel would bat the ball back to her. Alas, it was not to be. The next thing she knew, Janelle was no longer a cat. She was just Janelle, on the library floor on her hands and knees......on her hands and knees, tongue out and about to lick her arm. How embarrassing! But wait......it was over? The potion hadn't lasted nearly as long as she had expected. Janelle still had cat things she wanted to do. Oh well. She guessed that she would have to do a better job of potion brewing in the future.
Hoping that no one except Angel had seen her, Janelle slowly stood up and tried to act as if she was not a cat five seconds ago. Turning to Angel, Janelle said,
"Well I guess it's just you now." "You have fun. I'll make sure you stay hidden."
