"It won't." Blaise said, his very most matter of fact tone in place. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate Olympia trying to encourage him but he'd had his wand for maybe two months and something and it didn't work nearly as well as anything he could do for himself with muggle means. "I won't bail on the race." He insisted but even as he spoke he didn't think they'd let him participate if he couldn't use magic.................which only got him more discouraged than he'd been when the Head Boy first mentioned the spells.
He wanted to race too...
Large, sad brown eyes looked to the Professor at his question of his wand and he shook his head slowly. "I never take it with me anymore." He informed him. "It doesn't work, there's no point." He'd even owled his mum about it but she didn't believe him and thought he was being difficult so he could get two wands. Clearly not the case. If he could just have one working one he'd be happy forever; honest.
Did it really mean he couldn't do the race? He could run back to get his wand! It wouldn't work and he'd probably end up throwing it in frustration but he really really REALLY wanted to rac--huh? He could use his hands? "Yes! I'll take it!" It was like all his lessons where he found muggle means of doing magic things. Good to know it worked here too. Phew! He could breathe. "See, Olympia? Told you I wasn't bailing." GRIN. She was right, he'd be his own pair of snippers and he'd been the best gosh darn snipper EVER.
The boy turned at the words of his former hero, Mr. Head Boy Zander. "Okay!" He said with a wide, dimpled smile. "I'm really good at breaking off twigs; used to help mum at home ALL the time." And just to demonstrate, he plucked one off the topiary. See? He was still useful. Let him race, okay?
