First things first, Reagan was going to TRY and stay absolutely positive about the tasks at hand. The TRANSFIGURATION tasks. Traaaaaansfiguration. What was helping, somewhat...was Professor York's pleasant disposition. She seemed to be very kind and understanding, from what the Ravenclaw could garner ...but the build up and discussion had never been the issue. The follow-through, on the other hand...Well, to be honest, she struggled with this type of magic. Even when she tried her HARDEST. It just wasn't one of her strengths.

...WHICH WAS POTENTIALLY UPSETTING...since she wanted so, SOOO bad to be an Animagus. But to be one, she had to do better at the Transfiguration subject overall, right? Oh, to be so close and yet, so far away...but would she allow this to crush her dreams? No! Not at all...Reagan would never give up, of course. Maybe someone would...tutor her. Yes, that was an idea! Surely...some of her classmates wouldn't mind helping her out. Or maybe she'd ask the Professor herself for extra assistance. If Reagan expressed her desire to learn, it could sway her!....maybe....IF Professor York was as lovely as Rea suspected she was.

As for more immediate motivation...the first spell produced BIRDS. Rea loved birds. They were among her favorite animals...with their beautiful wings, glossy feathers, and freedom. Was that important? Visualizing birds? Because she could most certainly do that....Of course, she got the feeling there was a bit more to it. Avis was simple enough to say...and the M motion wasn't that difficult, either...but the end product...

She'd been sitting there, muttering the spell and practicing the motion...for about 30 minutes before she'd finally plucked up her courage to try. Her hand remained steady but there was doubt in her heart. It was very, VERY hard to smile through so many failed attempts, not that Reagan wasn't still smiling. SHE WAS...but it was HARD.

Chewing her lip, she tried ONCE MORE.
