It was a good, hard throw too, the sort that let you know that this little first year wasn't holding anything back. He was challenging Dot to be her very best self, which was usually reserved for people like Kyroh and Dima, and the least she could do was return the favor. As the ball arched toward her, Dot raised her wand and concentrated on aiming her banishment back toward the kid.
He had a name? She should find out his name.
When it got close, she cast with the incantation, "Depulso," and the ball arched back toward the kid at the same speed. Now he would just freeze it and they'd ace the assignment. Well what'd she go and do that for? Blaise's eyebrows crinkled as he watched her draw her wand and effectively send the ball hurtling back to him. Was that allowed in a game of catch? She'd never even touch the ball but that was small in comparison to the larger problem at hand. Namely, the ball heading back toward him.
Blaise knew what to do, he was to raise his wand, wave it and say the incantation 'Arresto Momentum' but he didn't. The young Gryffindor's wand remained lodged in its holster and he extended his hand to catch the returning object. "Aren't you going to catch it first? It's the rules." He figured she might have wanted to get her homework done--and him being their made him the perfect partner but he didn't want to do magic which was made evident by the way he thrust the ball back at her...manually. His wand would never see the light of day again if he could help it. "How did you make your wand do what you tell it to?" It didn't escape him that the older girl could cast without an itch. It was amazing and discouraging all at the same time.
