He liked making friends, but he was a little preoccupied at the moment.

"Hi Norah," he said to be polite. And shaking her hand, okay. Now could he-oh. She wanted to catch the thing too? They could work together? Perfect. He grinned at the older girl. "I'm Oliver." That was when he spotted her prefect badge and had the best idea ever. He pointed right at it, but since she was so close to him he ended up just poking it. Whatever, it still accomplished the same thing. "If it's attracted to shiny things, maybe we can lure it over here with your badge."

HE WAS A GENIUS.
"Hiya Oliver." Now that introductions were squared away, there was a MISSION to attend to. Norah paused to turn and stare at Professor Flamsteed who seemed to be having some sort of seizure. What was a Thomshaborzlioants? Maybe that was one of the rocks' names. That totally made sense. Not as cool as Dwayne, but definitely acceptable. Without another thought towards the shouting, she turned back to Oliver who was....sticking a finger on her chest. Uh. Hi?

She followed the path of his finger with her eyes 'till they reached her Prefects badge. Oh. OOOOOOHHHH. She'd forgotten that she'd pinned it to the front of her pea coat before leaving the dorms ON TIME like a real responsible person. Man, her mum really had to give her memory more credit. Okay fine. Her memory really didn't deserve any credit at all, because aside from this one time she had a tendency to remember all the wrong things. Not this time though, nuh uh. There was a BADGE there, which was good because otherwise chest-poking was not something Norah was entirely sure she'd be on board with. "It likes shiny...oh...a niffler." Man oh man oh man. Nifflers were the CUTEST but also could take your fingers right off if you weren't careful. It wasn't their fault 'cause they were just excited about shiny things (who wouldn't be?), but still. Nodding slowly, she grinned at the firstie. "Genius! But we've got to be careful." Holy bananas. She was that person. The 'be careful!' person. How about a PLOT TWIST. Somebody needed to inform her mum that those words had actually come out of Norah's mouth, because whether it'd ever happen again was highly questionable.

She set her plate down and dug a hand into her pocket, pulling out a little bag of emergency glitter, a yo yo, two chocolate frogs, a pretty leaf she'd picked up ages ago, and then a tiny stuffed cat. Handing the yo yo to Oliver, she replaced the contents of her coat pocket once more. Norah unpinned her shiny badge and pulled the end of the string toward her, tying two little nots around the back of the badge before letting go and letting it hang from the boy's hands. "If you want we can use this to lure it over without it biting your fingers off, 'cause that would probably hurt real bad." OH YEAH. There was nothing like a good plan.
