He began to flip some more and he heard her question and he laughed. What made his neighbor so weird? "Well for one thing she just didn't understand the concept of personal space. She would just always be in my face and I think I understood she had a crush one me if you know what I mean.." he shook his head from the memories. "She would always try to kiss me too.." he shuddered and just didn't like her that way. "For the record I didn't like her that way.." As if she couldn't tell.
Whaaattt she never been to America? He was flabbergasted and told her, "Well then I need to take you there one day to meet the family." He smiled but would take her eventually. "Ah I am just the only child. Only have my parents but my cousins are kind of like my siblings too." he told her honestly. Good thing because the pancakes were done! He smiled and got out the big plate and put the pancakes in front of her. "Well bon appetit!"
Kate gave Colt a half-smile, half-frown look. She really did feel bad for him. Just listening to his stories made her think he'd had such a lonely childhood. Well, technically he was still a child, since he wasn't quite an adult yet, but what she meant was when he was really, really young.
"Well," she said,
"I think you turned out just fine considering you had to do a lot on your own." Encouraging words made her feel not-so-sad for him anymore.
Kate laughed when Colt described his neighbor.
"Ohh, a crush?" she said, and playfully winked at him.
"Mmhmm. Sounds like a true weird-o. Good thing you got rid of her." Hee hee. She was only joking, of course. Well, sort of. Had Colt kept her around, he might not be free for Kate to have a crush on now. Of course she kept those thoughts to herself. He knew she had a crush on him, but she wouldn't tell ALL her secrets.
She smiled when he mentioned going to America.
"Sounds fun! New York sounds really awesome...and really busy, too," she said.
"Which family members would you take me to see?" She kind of thought Colt might not be in touch with the ones who basically abandoned him as a child, but maybe they'd ended up coming around in the end. Then the pancakes were done, which put an even bigger smile on Kate's face.
"I can't wait to taste them!" she said, pulling up a little stool and sitting down in front of her food.
