Lingering on the other side of the shelf he was looking at, the professor considered where to start. "Students don't usually walk out of my class," She began, her tone light. "I was wondering if you could tell me why you felt you needed to, so I might prevent others from doing it in the future." She had a reputation as an awesome professor here, kid. Couldn't be ruining her rep by leaving her lesson halfway through. After sparing only a glance at Moxley in response to the 'bless you', Daxton stopped by the end of the shelf and immediately picked up one of the rubber ducks that was situated there. He was well aware that the professor still lingered nearby, but kept his eyes firmly on the little yellow duck as he turned it over in his fingers. He had seen one before, of course, having grown up 'muggle', but never actually held one, as they were frankly quite pointless and completely unnecessary, even if you did have a lot of money to spare (and Daxton's family did not).
Still inspecting the rubber duck, Daxton only nodded his head in response to the question, because yes, he could tell her why he had needed to leave. But as she had not explicitly asked him to do so, he did not realise that what Moxley actually wanted was elaboration on the matter. It simply happened to be one of those times where literal-mindedness could be easily mistaken for Daxton behaving like a smart aleck, not that he was aware of it. No, the first year simply busied himself with inspecting the rubber ducks, oblivious to his own obliviousness.
