Rea hadn't meant to offend the man.*"While I can understand and appreciate that most potions do contain animal parts, not all of them do. So, I'd hoped that today would be lucky for me."*Meaning the potion of focus would be a non!animal-ingredient one. Wishful thinking, maybe...but Reagan was an optimistic girl. To a fault, to be honest.
Before the Professor would respond, the older Ravenclaw explained further; gentle smile still in place.*"Organic potion-making is a passion of mine. I hope to find herbal alternatives for many of the concoctions on the market today. So, while I may not agree with the ingredients list, there could be important techniques to be learned." Animal stuff again. Well, at least his students were good kids? Yeah? He didn't really understand the point, anşmals weren't really harmed, but he had no problem with it either to object.
"I look forward to your endevours." The older girl's. Whose surname he couldn't remember right now. He didn't comment on her ideas, though, because he didn't know what to say. However, he really wondered if she could substitute the ingredients, even though he didn't believe it could be done.
"You can ask me any question, any time." Yeah? Well, obviously except the nights but the younger girl looked bright enough to understand that. Hehe. "If it's at a time that interrupts the class, I will say so anyway."
Now that all was settled... "I trust you will ask me first next time." He smiled. They looked like good girls. "Good luck to you." He meant it, to the older girl. Everything was possible in science and magic. "If that's all, you can leave." It was late, after all. Quote:

That big breath the little boy had been holding, he let it out immediately and took several others just to regulate it. He had a right to not get the Potion right the first time? Was that a rule? Could he go explain that to the other Professors for him too?????? They liked setting class assignments and assuming First Years knew stuff but if no one else, he was walking testament to the fact that this was not so. Couple that with the fact his wand hated him and suddenly this Professor had made his day. One less class to fear or dread until he got on his wand's good side--wherever that might be.
"Thank Merlin!"*NOW his smile could genuinely grow.*"And I'll do better next time, honest."
Oh, they were gonna go over what he did wrong too? Yeah...he figured....Blaise spared a glance at his floating quill and notepad. He'd told the thing to stop taking notes if it ever came to this part but...the Professor wasn't mad at him....and he didn't THINK he was going to be mean about it so maybe it was okay. The boy gave a small nod.*"I'd like if we did." Well, Cosgrach hoped the boy didn't hate him anymore if he did in the first place. Or fear. Or anything negative.
So he smiled when the kid did and shrugged. "As long as your mistakes aren't intentional, don't fret it." No actually he should pay attention, but Cosgrach didn't want him to dislike the subject or fear it. The mistakes he did wouldn't cause a huge disaster anyway. Or so he hoped...
His mistakes, then. Cosgrach leaned forward and cleared his throat, as this part was important. "You didn't pay attention to the water," he said, "and the fire. You can be careless in easy potions-like adding 710 mL instead of 700, but this one requires your full attention. Transfiguration is tough job. So, amount of water, the size of fire..." He opened a drawer and brought out a paper. It was the notes he took while examining their potions. "Apparently you added the leeches too late... which is important in every potion, because of how the ingredients interact with each other esprcially when heated. The boomslang skin was off too..." He paused. "Always check the ingredients by yourself. Always. Because it's your potion." He smiled. "Of course, this is your first ever potion. So it's natural. You did rather well, actually. I expected more mistakes from first years."
A little bit of encouragement didn't hurt. Quote:

You know what? Cosgrach didn't care. He didn't care what this girl thought of him. She was just another spoilt kid thinking she had every right because she was the student. Bet they owned a house elf and all.
"Then keep your thoughts to yourself next time," he said, tired; and didn't even look at her when he said "You can leave." Quote:

How many times had she been in the library in the five years that she had been here? This was going to be fun. That was all, she thought. Well she kind of wanted to causally bring up Bart because she really liked talking about him. She decided against that.*
"So I guess I should let you enjoy the rest of your cinnamon rolls."She stood up not wanting to overstay her visit. She was sure he was terribly busy. He always seems like a busy man.
Cosgrach smiled. "Of course." Helping was his job, but he loved it more when the students were nice like her. "You're going to be great, I know it." And probably make Bart proud. Heh.
"Oh, thank you!" He WOULD enjoy them, very much. "They're delicious." In case she didn't know already. "Take care."
Another roll on its wayyyy. Quote:

But he also noted something. His modified Canary Cream seemed to work for just about anyone. Weight, age and stuff like that didn't seem to matter. Of course he had only tested this on two persons so far but he liked the results still.
But then...
ATTACK OF PROFESSOR BIRDMAN!
Great Hiippogriffs! Adi had not been expecting that! The canary zoomed right at him, catching Adi with its wings on the right side of the head.*"Oi! Professor! Calm down!''*His hands were protectively over his head as he tried to dodge the bird.*"If you turn back to human while you're airbourne, you'll crash to the ground.''*Was it wrong that Adi found that thought amusing? Hehe. Anyway, hopefully that would be enough to stop the attack if Culloden realised what he had said.
WAS THAT A CAMERA!?
ADIIIIII!!!
Cosgrach didn't mean to harm the boy of course and kept brushing his wings on his face. They were having fun, so his wings didn't really come down hard, so he didn't heed to the advice. Flop-flop-flo--
Okay his time was uuup-
He quickly landed and the transfiguration began backwards... but he wasn't saying a word before he was fully back.
This HAD been fun though, so Adi was safe. |
