It wouldn't be the end of the world, right? 'Cause it was only bowling after all. Not a true game of skill or anything...
Anyways, he helped Sophie get into the ball and zipped her in rather quickly. Merlin, if they didn't win at least he became practically professional at setting this whole thing up. They had it down to a science at this point. Practically wasted no time getting in and out of the plastic inflated ball.
And..... It was their turn again so he rolled the ball (and Soph) a little further back from the lane so he could get them a running start at the pins. "READY, SET, GOOOOOOOOOOO!!" And he ran pushing the ball in front of him letting go a foot before the fault line just in case and watched as Soph went spinning over.
AND THERE SHE WENT CRASHING TOWARDS THE PINS!
But how many? He couldn't quite see. THE ADRENALINE MAN, IT WAS THERE. It actually worked out really well that she had gotten into the ball first, Sophie thought, because that meant Zander got the most turns at rolling her toward the pins. So far, he'd done WAY better than her and knocked down eleven compared to her eight in their two turns, so it was SUPER lucky that he got to BRING THEM HOME WITH ONE LAST ROLL. It was especially encouraging that Zander said they HAD THIS. He must have been feeling more confident than she felt, which was another strong asset. See, world? Zander Adair could DO THINGS. He was a STRONG MANLY MAN who was AWESOME, just like Sophie Brown had been telling everyone ALL ALONG.
She could hear his muffled shouting to prepare her for take off, and Soph put her GAME FACE ON as if that would help them knock down more pins-- AND SHE WAS OFF! Rolling rolling rolling-- CRASH!
As usual, Sophie had to take a moment to gather herself, shaking off the dizziness, then looked up through the ball to see... two pins still standing over on the right side. She'd gone too far left, it seemed, but... four pins was still good, yeah?
But was it GOOD ENOUGH?
Rolling back toward Zander, Soph gave him a big ol' grin. "YOU WERE AWESOME." Could he hear her? Or read lips? When he let her out of the ball, he was getting ANOTHER big hug, okay?
