Picking up a small drum, he tapped it with his fingers to announce to the class that he was going to speak. “Transfiguration can be challenging for someone who is a perfectionist like me. I mean…it can get really frustrating when I don’t get the result I want. It’s exhausting too.” Truth. “But yeah, I think it’s cool that you can change one object to another.”

Tap tap.

Ethan grinned and looked at the small drum in his hands. “Professor? Can I bring my ukulele next time?” he asked as he raised the instrument he was holding. He’s more attached to his own instrument, just saying.

Hearing a drum, Beatrice looked and saw Ethan tapping away. She gave him her attention as he volunteered some information. She nodded, agreeing 100%. It was enough to deter most people, when they put all of the effort into the spell without the desired result. She levitated the bowl of Bertie Bott’s towards him in case he wanted another.

Snapping her attention back to the professor, she listened at what she had to say about transfiguration. Precise. Oh goodness. Noelle wasn't very precise usually... She tried to be but... She wasn't as successful as she wanted to be half the time.

Maybe Transfiguration would be her saving grace. Heh. Grace. Like her middle name.

they were to go around the room and Noelle felt eyes on her. "I like how useful it is. For instance, if you have one instrument but needed another, with some skill, you could turn it into the instrument you need to do the task!"

Beatrice smiled and nodded to Noelle’s response, and the bowl of Bertie Bott’s floated towards her.

Animagi.

Reagan DREAMED of acquiring the skill to be an Animagus.

Dreeeeeeeeeeamed.

Bouncing in her seat just a little, as well as adding a small wiggle here and there, Rea raised her hand eagerly. Her answer was going to be a good one. "I know that one of the most difficult bits of Transfiguration is the process of witches and wizards turning into animals at will. Animagi." WITH SINGING!!! Was that tune okay?! Also, could the Professor SEE the excited GLEAM in her eyes? Ugh, it was difficult business but Rea wanted it so badly...and she was a firm believer in that...if you wanted something bad enough, it would come to you.

FLAILING!

SINGING! Beatrice couldn’t hide her delighted smile, listening to the tune Reagan was singing her response in. AND it was about Animagi. There was nodding from Beatrice, and the bowl automatically floated towards Reagan.

SPOILER!!: Ava

Ava just didn't want Henric got into trouble. So... she made up a story. But yeah, the injury did limit her ability since she's a left-handed.

And once the class had started, the lioness listened to the Professor's introduction. My oh my, she's so bubbly and talk. A LOT. It wasn't that bad though. Kinda reminded her of her kindergarten teacher when she was soooo young. Ava then picked up a maraca and shook it before she answered the question. "I don't know much about Transfiguration but earlier, Professor Mourinho Culloden taught us about brewing animal potions Transfiguration and it's quite... complicated. So, I think transfiguration using transfiguring charm is also complicated but... I dunno, I'd never tried one." GRIN.

Poor lass, she hadn’t even been at Hogwarts for long and she’d already hurt herself by falling out of a tree. It looked as though it had been tended to, though, so Beatrice didn’t worry too much. She wouldn’t have to be sending her to the Hospital wing, at least.

Good choice, Maraca, Beatrice thought, and listened to Ava’s contribution. Yes, Beatrice had heard about the potion they had brewed in Potions. It sounded like a delightfully exciting one, one Beatrice was keen to have a look at. Beatrice nodded and smiled. At least once they had finished the lesson, Ava would be able to say she HAD tried one. Hopefully succeeded, but that was up to Ava, really. The bowl of beans floated towards her.

SPOILER!!: Norah

She looked curiously at her harmonica before bringing it to her lips for a loud exhale. That was what she was supposed to do, yeah? No hand raising? "I want to learn how to turn things glittery. We've learned how to change colors before but that's really different from sparkles." Kaycee said you could do that, she DID. "Is that true?" Y'know, just in case. Sometimes people gave wrong information when it wasn't really their fault. It made sense that it'd be possible though, as it wouldn't be very nice of magic to discriminate against glitter. Plus magic could practically do everything ever.

Ahh, the delightful sound of a harmonica. Beatrice looked to Norah as she said her part. It got a small chuckle from Beatrice. She quickly wrote it down on a spare piece of parchment, the glitter spell. “You certainly can turn things glittery, we can look into it for another lesson,” she replied. Of courrrrrrse they could! Beatrice liked sparkles. And there was the bowl of beans, floating off towards Norah now.

A question already? What’s something you can share with us about Transfiguration? Hmmm...She didn't know much about the subject because its not one of her favorite subject. All she knew that its a VERY difficult subject. "There are four branches of Transfiguration, Professor." No one had said that, right?

Beatrice nodded at Candice as she said her part. Yep, there were four branches of Transfiguration, and they could get to those later. Off went the beans, floating towards Candice now.

By the time little Ava came in, the sour effect of the bean was starting to go away. PHEW! She got a greeting in return too. And there was Cinna! Adi waved cheerily back at her. More students filed in before Benny came in. He got a grin. There was the guy, finally, who would have appreciated that bean better than him.
....................

Woot!

Class was starting! Adi listened to Beatrice tell the students about herself as the last of the soury taste from the bean vanished. Okay, so they shared something about transfiguration. He was about to raise his hand but then remembered the rules. No raising of hands! Right!

"Professor Yooooork,''
Adi sing songed for a moment in the tune that was Pierce the Viel's Bulls in the Bronx. He briefly wondered what Beatrice would think if he went heavy metal on her. Hehe. Anyway! "Studying the subject is great if you would like to turn someone into a creature. Those are the kind of spells I like the most.'' Mhmm.

And SINGING! Beatrice looked towards Adi, a big smile there on her face. Whichever tune he chose to sing it in… Beatrice wasn’t familiar with it, but no matter – it was SINGING! Lalala. There was a smirk on her face, and she nodded. It certainly WAS great, turning others into creatures. She made a note of that one in her mind, and saw the bowl of beans float off towards Adi now.

There was an enthusiastic nod from Beatrice, but also an odd look at that hand raising business. Beatrice LOVED that about transfiguration! Angel got a big smile from Beatrice, and the bowl of beans floated towards her if she fancied a Bertie Bott’s.

Yoongi first wrote down his name on the nametag and pinned it to his robe and while he was doing that he observed the class, coming to the conclusion that he was right. Grabbing a triangle, because he did not trust his singing voice, he hit it softly and listened to the TING going around the classroom. Heh, cute. He wanted this thing now. "Transformation, vanishment, conjuration, and untransfiguration are the four branches of Transfiguration" he answered and stopped the echoing TING by placing his hand on the triangle.

Ahh the delightful ping of the triangle. Beatrice looked towards Yoongi and listened to him recite the four branches of transfiguration and she nodded. “Right you are, there,” she said, and the bowl of Bertie Bott’s floated towards him, too.

SPOILER!!: Sabbath

She looked about his age but seemed shy, so he smiled and introduced himself before leaning forward over his desk to wave at Noelle sitting on the other side of the girl. Sabbath quilled his name badge:

The professor had begun to address the class, he turned his attention towards her. She was an astonishingly beautiful lady with the blondest hair he thought he’d ever seen. His grandmother, who was a drabardi in his gypsy community had always told him that very blonde-haired people, like the professor, possessed special gifts. He was beginning to realise just how much truth there was in many of his grandmother’s teachings.

The professor had asked them all to share something in relation to transfiguration. He raised his hand, popped the jelly bean into mouth and said “Well, I don’t know much about…*cough*… about *gasp* Merlin's beard! His eyes shot open wide. What on earth was wrong with this jelly bean?? *Cough* It tasted like… well, like… raw chilli powder! He liked spicy food as much as the next person, but this was as hot as Hades! Sabbath’s eyes were streaming but he wasn’t about to spit out that horrid bean in front of the professor and classmates. He knew their eyes were upon him and tried to recover valiantly, struggling to speak, *cough* "err, don’t know much" *splutter* "but really want to learn" *cough*. "Merlin knows, I need to learn how to transfigure a jellybean". He didn't know if you could transfigure food, but, that was all he was going to manage saying for now.

Another hand raiser. Beatrice eyed the hand before turning her attention to Sabbath as he spoke. And… coughed. And coughed some more. Merlin! She stood up and went towards him, it looked like he was choking or something. And then it clicked… “What flavour?” she asked, trying ever so hard not to laugh at his misfortune. She held out a hand and the bowl of beans floated towards her. She shook the bowl a bit until a brown one surfaced, one she knew to be CHOCOLATE. “Take that one there, it should be chocolate,” she said, pointing to it. Who knew, maybe she was wrong and it wasn’t chocolate. Though perhaps he wouldn’t be quite so trusting as to take another. But between all the coughing and spluttering, Beatrice heard what he was saying. Yes, food and transfiguration was an interesting subject, and they would speak about that a bit later. She released the bowl, which remained hovering in the air bear Sabbath, in case he wanted more beans, and returned to her seat.

Sitting quietly she listened to Professor York and had to agree with her on the process of Transfiguration and her reason for disliking it at times. It wasn't easy to always get the spell exact or the wand movement. Sometimes it was very difficult and frustrating. Still listening to those that played an instrument before talking and those that sang their answer she clearly agreed with most everyone. They all had valid points.

When it was her turn she softly cleared her throat and lightly drummed her fingers against the desk to get into tune as she sung her reply as best she could, "Professor I'd have to agree with all my fellow mates thus far with their answers but Ethan's really fits for myself as well. I get very frustrated when I can't get a result I want especially when I know I'm more then capable of accieving it." Sorry if her singing wasn't the greatest but she wasn't a singer and well she didn't have her guitar or drums here at the castle with her.

She heard a drumming, but a different noise, and looked to see Hady being inventive with her desk! That got a big smile, and Beatrice listened to what she was saying, which was in agreement with Ethan. Beatrice nodded, understanding that it was certainly disheartening for someone wanting to learn transfiguration. She liked hearing Hady added that she WAS capable of achieving it. That got a very deep nod, because they were ALL capable. The beans hovered over to Hady.

Char took the offered bean and placed it on her tongue like she was taking a pill that MIGHT possibly be a cure (but then again, it might be too late for her, the bogey bean might have had an IRREVERSIBLE EFFECT). But Cinnamon! That WAS nice and strong, though for a second there it had the unfortunate effect of producing a cinnamon MIXED with bogey flavour, but it was a start. MAYBE SHE WOULDN'T DIE IMMEDIATELY AFTER ALL.

She coughed pathetically and fanned herself. "Thanks."

AAAAAnd then she saw the big girl's name tag and GASPED. "Its a cinnamon bean AND your name is cinnamon! That's cool!" HAD THE BEAN BEEN CINNAMON TO START WITH, OR HAD IT TURNED INTO CINNAMON WHEN CINNAMON TOUCHED THE BEAN?

Charlotte made up her mind to test this amazing new theory sometime with OTHER kinds of food.

Charlotte had a BFF radar okay? Despite the near death by bean experience, she perked up at the sight of Davie and gave him a forlorn wave that she did her BEST to convey the message of 'I got a bung bean, Davie and I NEARLY DIED!'.

Or something like that.

SPOILER!!: professorrr

Oh and she was getting another bean from the professor! EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL AGAIN! CINNAMON AND PROFESSOR TRANSFIGURATION HAD JUST SAVED HER LIFE! Or at least... oh. Yup. YUP! LIFE SAVED!

"It's TOFFEE!" She announced dramatically, after a cautious lick of her third bean. And toffee and cinnamon in her mouth were FAR better than bogey. And then, "ThaaaaaaaaAaaank youuu professsor!" Char sang (terribly) in the professor's direction.

Aaaaaand jazz hands for effect!

Because of all this, Charlotte was now MORE than ready to actually pay attention to the lesson. Or she'd try anyway. After all, she owed the professor (and Cinnamon) her very EXISTENCE. She sort of wiggled in her chair, which was a subconscious 'I am getting comfortable so that I can listen up good' thing.

Something about transfiguration?

"ProoooooooOOooooooOOoooofessoooooooor! Transfiguration is SUUUUUPER good in duels! You can COOONJURE things to attack or defend!" She just sung a FEW words, selectively, for EFFECT. Heeee!

....

.....

.... also, could she have another bean?

Beatrice just couldn’t hold her laugh in, as she chuckled quietly. TOFFEE! “Ah a delicious flavour that one,” Beatrice added, chuckling again at the lovely singing and… wiggling fingers.

And the singing, thankfully, didn’t stop there. Hearing Charlotte singing again, Beatrice looked to her with a big smile. Her answer also got another chuckle. “That does come in handy,” Beatrice replied. She had never been any good at Duelling but perhaps it was because she didn’t use transfiguration enough? The bowl of beans hovered over to Charlotte next, if she was trusting enough to take one.

SPOILER!!: Blaise

And did she just say they might have jelly slugs next time??? SCORE! Might have only been a maybe but it wasn't like he asked for a million galleons so it was more likely to happen and the kid was all eager smiles.

With his quill scribbling away whatever it had a mind to, Blaise was left free to listen to the Professor talk about herself. No doubt whatever she said would be made brilliantly epic by the time his quill got done with it and it actually had the boy leaning over to catch little glimpses while it scribbled. Hah. That last line was kinda funny; funny enough to have him snickering to himself.

The Professor's question was what drew him back to the lesson and her. Something about Transfiguration? Something he liked or didn't like? Oh that was EASY. "I don't like that it's even harder than performing a charm because my wand already decided it won't be casting those very often which MEANS it'll be even less likely to cast THESE." Could he go back to Muggle Studies now? No wand needed there which meant he was good at it. The boy didn't know about anyone else but he liked being good at things.

Beatrice pulled a disgusted face, “Rotten fish, how vile!” Perhaps she should have gone through and tried to sift out all the horrible ones. But then what would she do with them?

His response was an unfortunate one, but Beatrice would NEVER ever ever lose hope in her students. “Well, we will see what we can do to help,” she said, her mind frantically thinking up ideas to help him cast those spells. She almost facepalmed as the bowl of beans hovered over to Blaise next. Would he be too disgusted to try another one?

He wasn't being rude he just needed an outlet to focus his attention on. As he was scribbling in and shading, he heard Professor York ask a question. What can he tell her about Transfiguration? Can he tell her it is not one of his favorite subjects? Nah that would be too much for the first day. Maybe she might change his mind about the subject.

Colt took a stab at it, "Professor it is a good subject is you wanna turn objects into household items you don't want." That is what his aunt did multiple times and she had use for the objects she didn't want. "It is also a branch of magic you need to concentrate on and you need to be sure your wand is well equipped for the task." He remember someone having a broken wand and his rat turn into a goblet.

Beatrice nodded at Colt’s response to the question, as both points were good. But especially the point about concentration, and a well equipped wand. She smiled at him and the bowl of beans hovered over to him.

He had passed on the Bertie Bott's 'cause he didn't trust Professors with food anymore... But he did write himself a badge, choosing to sit on the other side of Puck.

He moved around a little restlessly, waiting for the class to begin and AH finally. Like he had been sitting here for ages or something.

As for the introduction, Zander wasn't really paying all that much attention. Oops. Sorry, Professor. Lol. Way to set a good example, Adair. Well okay it wasn't that he was staring off into space because he WASN'T. He was looking at the woman and making eye contact and all... But like, was the about-me really necessary? All he got from all that was HUFFLEPUFF. Which might explain this whole new Hufflepuff takeover of Hogwarts. Zander was convinced.

But.... He did pay attention to the next bit when she asked an actual question. And he wasn't all that sure whether she wanted them to do the substitute hand-raising thing since they were really just going around in a circle here... But Zander hit the triangle anyways allowing it to go off and make a DING sort of sound when it was his turn. He understood this question. "It takes a lot of concentration because you have to be able to visualize what you're trying to transfigure something into... Which can sometimes be hard when you're object might look completely different when you start with it."

Wait, why the singing and the instruments though? This Zander did not understand.

And another ding of a triangle, which got Beatrice’s attention. She looked at the Lion prefect and nodded to what he had said. “Absolutely correct,” she said. Though it was sometimes fun to see the unintentional results of a transfiguration spell, so long as no harm came from it. The beans hovered over to Zander, even though he had declined them earlier.

SPOILER!!: Daxton

Daxton himself had a face of thunder, and was sat as close to the door as he could possibly get. His earmuffs were on for obvious reasons, but he could still hear everything, just at a much lower level. It would have to do.

There were plenty of things he could have shared about Transfiguration, including cold hard facts or the opinions he had already formed on the subject, such as the way having an over-active imagination would likely work in one's favour, or how many claimed Transfiguration was a difficult subject but that that was perhaps only because they were stupid and not doing it right. But Daxton did not say anything, nor did he write anything down. He simply sat there, in dead silence.

Beatrice glanced over the next student in the circle, but he didn’t seem to want to share anything. In fact, he seemed in a right state. Beatrice wasn’t sure what to think, but a look of concern passed over her face. Was there something wrong with his hearing? Perhaps he had over sensitive ears, hence the earmuffs? The bowl of beans wasn’t really sure what to do, seeing as he hadn’t said anything, and it started shaking in the air, torn between remaining where it was and hovering towards Daxton. It finally decided what to do and it hovered towards him, pausing every now and then on its journey like it was reconsidering what to do.

”Professor,” she sang softly. She wasn’t sure about her voice, so didn’t want to be too loud. ”I found it really hard last year but I’m hoping I can learn to be better at it this year.. Especially as there are a lot of things I’ve read about happening that sound amazing… like I read about McGonagall transfiguring the Chess pieces to protect the Philosopher's Stone? Which is amazing.” How cool was that?

And another student brave enough to sing! It was Marsha, and Beatrice looked upon her with a warm smile. She liked hearing Marsha admit it had been hard, but hope she could improve. Beatrice nodded enthusiastically to the transfiguring of the Chess pieces. That had been amazing, Beatrice agreed. The bowl went off towards Marsha next.

Merlin. Could she choke on it? Please don't.

Okay great. She didn't choke. Cinna nodded it was no problem. She would probably in up throwing it at a suit of armor. That was just about the only things those jelly beans were good for,

The seventh year grinned and laughed."Yep, that's my name. Everyone normally calls me just Cinna for short."

Now that she had saved the first years life. Or whatever. At least she didn't have a terrible or too terrible of a taste in her mouth anymore.

York? That was the transfiguration professors name. She forgot. Opps. Too many new professors to remember their names. Yet. She'd remember them soon enough. That was a nice intro. Oh this answer was a easy one for her. The seventh year waited her turn. [b]"I like that transfiguration plays a big part in my future career as a fashion designer. It makes it so much easier to make something simple and turn it into something beautiful to wear."[b] She grinned. So much better that sewing a article of clothing. Well sometimes.

Beatrice looked to Cinna, who had kindly donated her bean to Charlotte previously, and BEAMED at her response. Indeed transfiguration would be very useful to Cinna with her chosen career, she couldn’t have agreed more. The beans moved on towards Cinna next.

Disgusting, ear wax

But he had to get over the feeling quick because it was time for questions on Transfiguration. And he knew some things about Transfiguration besides his current interest in the Human Transfiguration.

"I know food cannot be outright created from nothing according to Gamp's Law. But you know can be summoned, enlarged, or multiplied"

There was more to it than that. But that was just too much effort to say.

But yeah that was good enough.

OOHO And there was another one with a disgusting tasting one!

And food transfiguration again. Beatrice nodded, it was a great point but she would get into that a bit later. She smiled as the beans headed towards Dante.

The second year cleared his throat before performing his answer similarly to a well-known showtune.

"GwenoGGGGGG Jones transfigured people into wood lice!!!" He'd read that. Or overheard it. He wasn't positive which. But he knew it.

BLEH.

Trying to take her mind off of the horrible aftertaste, Paulina listened as Professor York shared a little about herself before moving on to Transfiguration in general. They each had to share something about the subject, and she would rather not do that because shyness always kicked in when she was put on the spot. At least if she put her hand up during lessons it was actively volunteering to answer. Not like she had a choice in the matter though...

When it was her turn, she gave the maraca a few shakes. "Transfiguration is cool, because it allows people to become animals." Professor York knew about her wanting to become an Animagus.

And there was the shaking of a maraca, and Beatrice looked towards Paulina. Beatrice smiled at her contribution to the circle, it was absolutely cool that transfiguration allowed the caster to do that. The beans floated off to Palina, and Beatrice wondered if she would pick up a slightly better tasting one?

When the student who had been talking stopped, she shook her maracas to indicate that she had something to say.

"I like Transfiguration in general, but what I don't like is that I have to concentrate about five times more than I do in any other class. Like the professor said, if you aren't 100% focused, things could go very, very wrong." Keeping her focus was always a challenge for Janelle, Transfiguration took it to another level entirely.

And another shake of a maraca! This was Janelle’s turn, and Beatrice listened to her comment. Yes, that was true and she nodded. The concentration was a big thing in transfiguration, and Beatrice could understand student’s frustration in the matter. Especially with everything else going on, how was one to concentrate 100% on the spell? The beans floated off to Janelle, even though Beatrice remembered she hadn’t taken one.

What did he know about Transfiguration though? He had heard about what the Professor was talking about though. Transfiguration was a very difficult subject because of how complicated some of the spells could be. He couldn't even imagine what would happen if someone screwed up a human to animal transformation. He raised his hand at the thought of this, "Professor, witches and wizards who are particularly good at Transfiguration can decide to become an animagus if the Ministry approves it." To be able to turn yourself into an animal at will was something that the Claw thought would be pretty awesome really.

Another hand got another odd look from Beatrice, but the fact was a good one. Especially the if the Ministry approves it part. ”Absolutely, because there are HUGE consequences for becoming an unregistered animagi,” she said, keeping out the if you get caught part. The beans floated towards Milo next.

SPOILER!!: Ellery

Better just follow instructions for now. She finished scribbling her nametag (she had a LONG NAME, okay?) and affixed it to her shirt.

And then she raised her hand. "I like the NAME of Transfiguration. I like figs and it's TransFIGuration."

Beatrice eyed the next hand, but then started laughing a few moments after. She couldn’t disagree with Ellery’s response, and gave a nod as the beans floated over to her.

SPOILER!!: Davie

Now, onto the first question. He liked this professor so far. She was nice, young, pretty, and told them a little about her background, which was helpful. Davie also liked her accent. So, he rap-a-tap-tapped out a beat when he'd thought up a proper answer to her first question.

"I think we should learn how to transfigure bubbles on our heads so we can go talk to Bartholomew Henry in class and practice speaking Mermish to the lake's merpeople." Wouldn't that be a cool field trip??

Beatrice smiled at Davie as he took a drum out of the box and thanked her. The drums were one of her favourite instruments.

And there went that drum, which got Beatrice’s attention. Her face lit up at that suggestion, and she jotted it down underneath the sparkly suggestion. She nodded at him and saw the bowl of beans floating off to him next.

SPOILER!!: Noelle

She was soooo excited for this class. "Im ecstatic for it! Are you? And hi Gwen! I'm Noelle!" She stayed, giving her an even bigger smile. She loved making new friends, and she planned on making friends with this girl.

Seeing her Sabbie walk in and sit on the other side of Gwen, Noelle beamed. Yay! They were sitting somewhat close to each other! She leaned forward and gave him a wave. Then he was sputtering. Noelle covered her mouth to hide her giggles... And his answer was pretty too.

Noelle turned her attention to the class again and listened to all the other answers. Then she looked back at Gwen and Sabbie and gave them both smiles.

And another one without a comment, which was okay. At least she didn’t seem to be injured, upset or otherwise not wanting to be there. The bowl, having decided it was okay to offer beans to those who didn’t speak, hovered over to Noelle in case she wanted to try a bean.

After listening to everyone’s comments, and taking note of the two suggestions she had been given, she was ready for the next question. The beans hovered over to her, and she took one, delighted to bite into a cherry flavour one. Once she had eaten it, the beans went off again, waiting to hover over to the students. Beatrice tapped another simple rhythm onto her drum to get their attention.

“Great information, everyone,” she said briefly. It was all good, and gave her an idea of their thoughts of transfiguration so far. She had thought to ask about the four branches of transfiguration, but Yoongi had already beaten her to it. “As you know, there are four branches of transfiguration. Does anyone know of a transfiguration spell, and the branch it belongs to?” She asked. She wasn’t going to be giving a response this time, not until they had all had a go.
