The Gryffindor was just fine sitting there and being uncomfortable while the two of them figured stuff out, but OF COURSE Sophie Brown had to drag him into the mix and throw him under a bus again. Very non-appreciative glances were thrown her way as he mumbled some under his breath. "Uh." That's not even the point here, SOPHIE BROWN. "Well apparently it wasn't a mistake, SO ANYWAYS is it just me or is there an awful lot of weird looks going around????... Maybe you two should talk about it. Clear the air a little bit. "You aren't leaving," he simply said, and turned to Sophie I'm-So-Funny. He knew he should never have let her get in his heart. Look where they were now. He was friends with practically all of the kids, married with a daughter of his own, and she was the CHEEKIEST of all. No no, he didn't mean any of this, but it still was a LEGIT question. Was she honestly like this around only him and Piers? Zander spazzing out on her was SUPER funny, honestly, and Sophie giggled the whole time the Head Boy rambled on in his nervousness. And when Culloden told him he couldn't leave, Soph said, "HA," as if to say, See? He doesn't hate you, he wants you to say, and he's going to TELL YOU ALL ABOUT WHY YOU'RE WORTHY OF THAT BADGE.
...But then Culloden was being TOTALLY mean to her instead. PFFFFFFFFT. "Ruuuuude," she chimed, appearing outwardly unfazed by the man's (playful?) attempt to bring her down, and crossed her arms smugly over her chest. "He didn't make any mistakes, contrary to what everyone seems to be so inclined to believe." Kind of a touchy subject for Sophie Brown deep down, but she was trying really, really hard to not let on to her buried hurt over any accusation that she didn't deserve the badge. She avoided Zander's gaze, though, because she was certain he would see the hurt behind her facade if she dared to look at him, especially since he already knew she was sensitive over the badge from her bout with Evie. He was good at noticing the subtleties when something was wrong, and Culloden never had been. So she kept her gaze locked on the potions master.
"'N I don't hate you." It was weird that he'd even say that, though. "M'only cheeky with you, though. Well, 'n sometimes Flammy, when he's in a good mood. He's less fun to joke 'round with, though, 'cause he gets super uncomfortable and super uneasy really fast. He doesn't have as good of a sense of humor as you, which is why you're usually my target." See? So it was a thing of admiration, really. He should've been flattered. "'N now that both Quiggles 'n Javy are gone, too, you're the only one left with a sense of humor, so you're probably gonna be bothered by me more than anyone." Besides Dakest, who was quickly growing on Sophie Brown. Dakest was actually almost just as fun to tease as Culloden was, maybe even more.
