So no, he didn't actually get a lot of magical knowledge from those books. But he had learned that the Wizarding World evolved at a painfully slow rate, because of either elitism or fear of muggles. He couldn't decide. Which was sad, because Muggles were catching up on the whole magic thing with technology.

Didn't some famous person say that sufficiently advanced technology was indistinguishable from magic? He was pretty sure he'd read that somewhere.

So a random history book in his arm, Brian started pacing around as he read. That was the best way he could study and it kept him from falling asleep when the text got boring. What a great bonus, huh? Anyway, so he was walking around, no worries inb his mind because who in their right mind came up to the library at seven in the morning, ON A SATURDAY? That's right, no one. And Brian didn't count because he had a few screws loose in his noggin anyway.

But there was someone there and Brian crashed into him very unceremoniously. Oh no. Ooooooh no. It was a firstie. Ohohohohohoh no. "I'm so sorry," he said quickly, eyes widening. "Are you okay?" Because that was a pretty big mook and Brian was pretty sure he'd hit the kid with it as he fumbled to get a better grip and keep it from falling.
What. Was. The. Matter. With. The. People. In. This. School?!

All Daxton wanted was a few hours of peace and quiet to spend getting lost in the many tomes that Hogwarts had to offer, that was it. Why was that too much to ask? The situation wouldn't have been so bad if the other boy hadn't crashed right into him, but he had, so it was awful.

It was easy to get carried away when looking through books, and presented with so many options and strange titles and even stranger author names, Daxton had apparently become less aware of his surroundings. He got a horrible fright when suddenly someone else, crashed right into him.

If he hadn't been so taken aback and intent on getting the other boy away from him, Daxton might have questioned exactly why it was that everyone in this school seemed so oblivious to the concept of personal space, or were so intent on crashing into people.

As it happened, the boy before him took all his attention. That hit with the book hadn't actually hurt at all, though it ought to have, but ultimately Daxton was angered at the idiocy of the other boy that had bought on the unwelcome collision. He grabbed the book out of the boy's hands and thumped him with it on the upper arm.

... Yes. Now he was okay. Now they were even.

Barely.
