He can't even cook mac and cheese without burning it. We always had cans and such. So mostly soup and beans for dinner." He didn't mind it actually, some of the soups were good. He raised his one eyebrow at her comment. She didn't think he would be interested in cooking. He narrowed his eyes playfully and asked, "Now what would you think I would be interested in? You think I would be skateboarding all day?" It was fun teasing her and seeing her get all flustered.
He was pleased to know she was gonna join him. "Well I am glad to know my food will withstand the great halls food. I mean it is better anyways." Not bragging or anything right? "Aahh so my nickname is Chef now?" he laughed at her promise to give him nicknames. He was busy flipping the pancakes when he realized he forgot to get the plates. "Hey would you do me a favor the get the plates? They are right over there..." he pointed to the cupboard. He grinned and was planning to have a flour fight soon but she was gonna be surprised of course.
The military? Kate only halfway understood what that was all about. She was raised in a magical family who mainly stayed within the bounds of the magical world. Whatever it called for his dad to do, Kate guessed the man wasn't really home enough to learn how to cook.
"What about your...mom?" she asked, because the way Colt talked, it was only his dad who was around to heat up things like soup. She hoped she wasn't asking too personal of a question.
She thought about his next question and shrugged.
"I'm not sure. I haven't really thought about what kind of hobbies you might like, but I guess because you mentioned liking to get into trouble so much that you didn't have time for things like cooking," she replied.
"I guess you sure surprised me, Chef." She grinned at that. She nodded and turned to get the plates. She felt sort of funny rummaging through the house elves' things, but she guessed they didn't mind too much.
"Here they are," she said, pulling a few out the cupboard.
