Not such a problem in the non-magical world, but he'd not dared to steal a book from the shop in Diagon Alley.
It didn't matter so much here, though. These books didn't need to be paid for, so he could read as many of them, as much as he liked. Whether or not there was a late fee system, Daxton didn't bother to check. It didn't matter much either, as he was a fast reader.
Still barefoot after his journey through the corridors, the boy diverted into the library and felt himself relax at once. Books books books. What could be better? So much information in here, about the magical world, mostly, which was the area in which his knowledge was most lacking. But not for long. Not now he had all these resources.
Daxton eyed all the shelves for a moment, wondering (as he always did when he entered a room full of books) how many words were inside this one library, all of them waiting to be read. He calculated things for a moment, before coming to a decision and setting out to look for the Defence Against the Dark Arts section. After that, he would look into the History section, then go from there.
Books. There were books at home, sure, but the majority of their library was a music library and it was dedicated to keeping sheet music of what was in Brian's opinion "Every Piece Ever Written" so that they didn't have to go look it up and print it out. So no, he didn't actually get a lot of magical knowledge from those books. But he had learned that the Wizarding World evolved at a painfully slow rate, because of either elitism or fear of muggles. He couldn't decide. Which was sad, because Muggles were catching up on the whole magic thing with technology.
Didn't some famous person say that sufficiently advanced technology was indistinguishable from magic? He was pretty sure he'd read that somewhere.
So a random history book in his arm, Brian started pacing around as he read. That was the best way he could study and it kept him from falling asleep when the text got boring. What a great bonus, huh? Anyway, so he was walking around, no worries inb his mind because who in their right mind came up to the library at seven in the morning, ON A SATURDAY? That's right, no one. And Brian didn't count because he had a few screws loose in his noggin anyway.
But there was someone there and Brian crashed into him very unceremoniously. Oh no. Ooooooh no. It was a firstie. Ohohohohohoh no.
"I'm so sorry," he said quickly, eyes widening.
"Are you okay?" Because that was a pretty big mook and Brian was pretty sure he'd hit the kid with it as he fumbled to get a better grip and keep it from falling.
