½ EagleBrain ♥ Creeperdoodle ♥ Raven Dor ♥ Berry ♥ ½ Team House Elf Okay, so things weren't going so well. It was hardly HIS fault...
Between Professor Airey shaking his head and continuing to yell and carry on like a child, and Maggie giving him that look - whatever that was - he was... lost. On top of that he was wondering why Maggie wasn't holding his hand anymore. A part of him just wanted to nod and agree with Airey's assessment of his excuse, because that was better than having to come up with something else. Nothing he said now would be credible. People shouldn't CHANGE stories. Besides, his initial excuse wasn't completely outrageous, minus the star chart down her throat thing.
Holding his ground, Zeke shrugged a shoulder. They were busted, he knew it, but they didn't both have to get in trouble. As much as it wasn't his fault, entirely, he had chosen to come up here, and he knew perfectly well what he wanted to happen when he got here... he couldn't NOT take responsibility for that. Zeke was about to say as much, but before he could open his mouth to speak, Maggie apologised.
He peered at her for a second before turning back to his Head of House, nodding remorsefully. "It's true, Sir," he interjected regarding the apology thing and the not planning for it thing. He was SO SORRYthey were caught. But if all of that wasn't good enough, what Maggie said next was GOLD. He was impressed with her logic, but it didn't show. He'd had plenty of practice with covering things up and excusing behaviours, or more to the point, accepting OTHER peoples versions of events to cover his actions and behaviours. Ashley always was good at that.
Feeling Maggie's hand in his again, Zeke just continued to nod along. This would go better if he didn't speak.
...
But... he HAD to speak. "I'm sorry I got carried away, Professor." Quite carried away, though he didn't start it.
Could they please just go to dinner now? and take a detour to get there?
