Kate nodded at David's statement. She didn't want to be so vocal as to say this out loud, but Ravenclaw could use some more members. One or two or forty should do it. For some reason, Kate always guessed that Ravenclaw was the house with the lowest amount of people sorted into it. She didn't know for sure, but it sure seemed that way in classes. Maybe these two would get in, and Kate would soon find the place kicking with people!

"I wouldn't be nervous, David," she said, picking up on how nervous he suddenly seemed. "I've only talked with you twice, counting right now, and you seem like a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff to me. I'd put all my galleons on Ravenclaw." She smiled at him. She couldn't tell about Adelynn yet, but she seemed really nice. Not a Slytherin, she didn't think. Gryffindor either. She raised her eyebrows when David mentioned knowing all about the Cartography Club. "Oh, yeah. House elves are the greatest! The ones at Hogwarts are so adorable and even seem to make a hobby out of passing out their cookies."

She started to feel bad about the fact that David grew wide-eyed at her Acromantula mention, but then he almost sounded intrigued. "You mean...you're not upset? I thought you would be, but since you asked...," she began. "They were HUGE! They were way taller than me! I have no idea about their intelligence, because I was more preoccupied with the fact they thought I was dinner. They seemed to know what they were doing, though."

She gave Adelynn an apologetic look. Poor girl hadn't even been to the school yet, and she was already getting freaked out. "Oh, it's all okay now! David's mom and a team of professors helped us scare them off! I don't think they'll be coming around again," she assured. At least, she hoped not. Kate decided to change the subject a little to keep from scaring Adelynn too much. "So what do you think your favorite subject will be?" she asked, looking at both of her compartment mates.

He really would like it there, with the other two girls, new friends he'd already found. "Ravenclaw DOES wear my favorite color," he told them both cheerfully. Okay, so maybe the Sorting Hat would see how he felt about that House, right? Since it read minds and all?

But on the topic of spiders... no, no he wasn't upset at all, and shook his head at Kate to show her so. "I think it's fascinating how quietly they planned their takeover, then thought to come in through the Chamber of Secret's exit, and found out that my mum was teaching so they took her straight out of the greenhouses, and then they divided their forces to try to conquer everywhere at once..." he had to take a deep breath to keep from getting too excited and rambly. Especially since he caught a glance at Adelynn's face, and she was NOT having those spiders.

Uh. "I mean, Kate's definitely right. The castle is probably really clean by now. I bet the House Elves and the staff have been working hard to make sure it's 100% cobweb-free this year." He hoped he sounded reassuring. He felt proud that his mom had been brought up as more than just a hostage, as a person who had scared the spiders away. Favorite subjects, though? Hmm, maybe Adelynn already had one from her time at Beauxbatons. Davie had a few ideas of what he was looking forward to, but had no idea if he would be good at them or not.
