Upon his question, she cleared her throat and got prepared for her story. One she felt like she would be telling a lot as she met more friends.
"I haven't been to Hogwarts before...This is going to be my first time!" She couldn't believe she could finally say that.
"I went to Beauxbatons for my first and second year...My mum is really into France and the French Wizarding World." She thought about her time at Beauxbatons, "I didn't really fit in with the others though...and I had heard so many good things about Hogwarts so after two years of convincing my mum to let me transfer here, she finally gave in and voila! I'm on the way to Hogwarts."
She wanted to learn more about the new people she had just met, so she tried to feel for what year David was going into. He looked too young to be a third year, so maybe he was a second? Maybe, but he still looked young. Could he be a first year?

Kate turned toward David. Well? Did he? Know all kinds of secret rooms and stuff? She saw his face get red and automatically felt bad about bringing up something that embarrassed him. But he did know all kinds of secret places! "You'll have to show us some one day!" she said, trying to make him feel better and not so embarrassed.
Then Adelynn andswered David's question, and Kate found herself reacting in a way she hadn't intended. "So many GOOD things?" she asked, thinking about the Acromantula attacks. Ahem. "I mean, oh, right! There's loads of good things going on there!" Positivity! She had it. The conversation seemed to be going on between the other two right now, so Kate found herself like a human tennis ball, her head bouncing back and forth between the two of them.
Fascinating! Good word choice, David noted. "Sure, I can show you guys some stuff... m-most of my favorite hiding places are in the Head's office though." He knew that place like the back of his hand, even the rooms that weren't on the official school map. "Kate, you've probably explored a lot of the secret tunnels, like the one that leads to Hogsmeade?" Had she? "I bet you've been in the Chamber of Secrets, too."
He'd heard a LOT about that Chamber last term, especially in relation to the invading acromantula. He didn't bring it up now though, since she hadn't, and since their other companion seemed so positively excited for school. He exchanged a glance with Kate and then smiled back at Addelyn. "Hogwarts IS the best wizarding school in Europe, even the statistics say so," he informed her proudly. "It's a good thing you managed to convince your mum to go here!"
He'd had a bit of a struggle with his own mother, but in the end, his attendance at Hogwarts had been a no-brainer. Everyone else in the family had gone here, his parents had both taught here, and it would be 'bad for publicity' if he didn't attend, or something like that. So here he was. "Yep, I'm a first year," he admitted. "Hey, maybe we'll get Sorted in the same House." Him and Addelyn, that was. Maybe they'd even be Sorted into Kate's House???!?
