Upon hearing about Davids mom being the former Headmistress, Adelynn's jaw dropped. She quickly pulled it back up and tried to act casual.

"Wow! It's nice to meet you David. It's like really cool that your mom used to be the Headmistress and that you've been to the castle and all. You must know everything about all the different areas of the castle! I heard that there's so many different rooms you could go to that it would take weeks to get to them all!"

Her attempt at being casual had failed but at least she had come out of her shell a bit.

She thought about her time at Beauxbatons, "I didn't really fit in with the others though...and I had heard so many good things about Hogwarts so after two years of convincing my mum to let me transfer here, she finally gave in and voila! I'm on the way to Hogwarts."

She wanted to learn more about the new people she had just met, so she tried to feel for what year David was going into. He looked too young to be a third year, so maybe he was a second? Maybe, but he still looked young. Could he be a first year?

"Is this your first time at Hogwarts...as a student?"

Kate perked up. "Oh, cool! I'm a third year, too!" she exclaimed. It was nice to meet new people, but it was awesome to meet people her own age. "If you get into Ravenclaw, we'll be roommates. That'll be a good thing, because it's just me and Janelle now." So that sealed the deal. Kate wanted this girl to get into Ravenclaw, so there could be three girls in their dorm instead of just two. "Well, anyway, welcome to Hogwarts!" She decided not to tell the girl they'd just got rid of an army of Acromantula who tried to eat everybody in sight last year.

Kate turned toward David. Well? Did he? Know all kinds of secret rooms and stuff? She saw his face get red and automatically felt bad about bringing up something that embarrassed him. But he did know all kinds of secret places! "You'll have to show us some one day!" she said, trying to make him feel better and not so embarrassed.

Then Adelynn andswered David's question, and Kate found herself reacting in a way she hadn't intended. "So many GOOD things?" she asked, thinking about the Acromantula attacks. Ahem. "I mean, oh, right! There's loads of good things going on there!" Positivity! She had it. The conversation seemed to be going on between the other two right now, so Kate found herself like a human tennis ball, her head bouncing back and forth between the two of them.
