Kate had been ready to be a 'cool teen' her whole life, and now that it was here, she could hardly contain herself as she entered the train and looked for people she already knew.
Kate peered into the first compartment, trying to be as discreet as possible to not make a nuisance of herself. Hmm. Must be all incoming firsties, because Kate none of them, and they looked a little younger than her. A second glance showed her an empty compartment, and Kate opted to take it in hopes of having company sometime soon. She plopped down onto the seat and fiddled with her candy from Diagon Alley as she waited around. Quote:

After awhile of being picky for a compartment she saw one that had only one other girl in it. She entered the compartment and sat across from the girl and potential friend. Then she stuck out her hand,
"Hi, my name is Adelynn."
She smiled at the girl. Wow, there were a lot of students on this train! Davie had never been around so many kids his age in his entire life, and he had been to a lot of Diagon Alley events and birthday parties with his parents' friends and all their kids. The amount of people here, though, just, wow. It was almost off-putting to a shy boy like him, but he watched everyone and everything with bright blue spectacled eyes.
Now he entered his first semi-empty compartment, spying someone he recognized at last. He hadn't seen Charlotte yet, and he still needed to find her for sure, but he could sit and talk to Kate as the train got going. Only problem was, a different girl had found her first. So, with a small smile, Davie settled into the compartment on Kate's side and gave her a small smile, looking across to her new friend as well.
Should he introduce himself, even though she was talking to Kate? No? No. He'd wait. It was more courteous that way.
