If Rhydian had been making a face before, he most certainly was now. "I don't do what is easy. Quite the opposite actually." If the man had been listening, it was slipped somewhere into the talk about doing dangerous things. Perhaps, the man had simply delegated to forgetting that talk. Was probably a wise choice.
Either way, Rhydian shrugged, trying to work the distaste off his expression. "Don't care for what is easy, either. And I wouldn't exactly call being a Hit Wizard, easier than being an Auror. Just know what I'm good at and what I'm not. Know I was made to be a Hit Wizard, not an Auror."
Made. The killer word. It had him lapsing into brief silence that hinged on expectation of Rainey poking more into his half-admission. When he didn't though, Rhydian knew he had struck gold. And of course, that meant he had to grin. Right up at Bossman. "Ain't gonna let anyone down. Remember, I want to be the best."
For his own reasons, but it held. Couldn't be the best if you let other people get killed or burned for your actions.
As for the envelope being nothing, not even linked to the man in question, that had the smile disappearing and the frown fully in place. "Well it would have certainly helped to know that Tib---" the rest was clacking teeth and a grunt as his hat went sideways and his ears all but flapped against his skull at the head-clip.
What. The. Actual. Fudge?
Pushing his hat back onto his head properly (after feeling about for dents or blemishes in the fabric of course), Rhydian turned his head slightly to peer at the Bossman. "Right. Cept you could have told me from the get-go. That's kinda rookie mistake, isn't it? Not telling your working-buddy everything they should know to help you solve a case."
There was no question about it. Rhydian Blackhold was on the case. Pandora's Box and Rainey's mystery. How could he not be? And maybe this was a start. Maybe a delusional one, but he was no stranger to those.
