"Another victory for Hogwarts, yes, but not for me. I'm tired of this..... well, madness, Ab! I can't do it anymore. I need you to summon some parchment and a quill, because I am resigning and I think you should take over the school at the end of this term." She tilted her chin up and reached for another brownie. "We'll let Cassandra Rae know that you are a suitable Headmaster, because you don't get kidnapped in the middle of your lessons...." She bit into her brownie a bit angrily. He wasn't hungry, thanks, he was looking forward to going back to his office and polishing his cane. Maybe re-charm the runes on it, too, they must've faded away after all this use today.
"What do you mean, your--" he tried to cut her off but she seemed determined to talk on. She wanted to resign? No no, no. Botros had a calm reaction to the news, it wasn't the first time he'd seen a colleague/boss resign. It was the first time they resigned after an acromantula attack, though. "Li--" but professor Morgan was obviously with them in this conversation? Ab glanced at her for a moment then back to Annie. This was a talk between the headmistress and her deputy, really. "Listen Annie, I will fetch you whatever you want. Just have some food, we'll get you a glass of wine and after the adrenaline has all but subsided, we can talk about life-changing decisions," he gave her arm a gently pat.
"The kidnapping wasn't your fault," he added quietly. "Hogwarts is a place injected with intense magic power, it'll always draw new and odd forces. Nobody can stop that, what matters is that we always win in the end. It keeps us safe somehow, even if not in the way that we expect," he nodded confidently. |
