Friday, July 31st not only marks the 35th birthday of Harry Potter, but also the big milestone 50th birthday of author
Joanne Kathleen Rowling!
Jo has filled our lives with magic ever since releasing the first
Harry Potter novel, back in 1997. Since then she's penned the seven novels, in addition to the various companion books including
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,
Quidditch Through the Ages, and most recently,
The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
Jo continued the next step in the Harry Potter legacy: Pottermore, an online experience for fans through Hogwarts and the Wizarding World. Her first non-
Harry Potter book,
The Casual Vacancy, was released in 2012. Jo, under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, released her second adult novel,
The Cuckoo's Calling, the sequel
The Silkworm, and the third
Career of Evil, set to hit bookshelves this October.

Jo even Tweeted about her big day:
