He would have to go through all five boxes until he would eventually find the actual contents of the mystery box.
The only question was: would he give up before he did, though? Oh. How interesting. And even a little unexpected!
Like Matryoshka dolls! Or, well, Chinese boxes as the dolls were a more modern interpretation of the boxes. Also a literary device seen in some of Plato's work and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
But all that was beside the point because there were boxes that needed opening.
More than two apparently...
...and three...
...four...
...five...sweet solstice how many of these were there? Was this a test of the patience of one's curiosity? Because it was game on and he was not going to lose this battle. SPOILER!!: these two <3 Quote:

Well THEIR antics since there was no way of knowing who it was who was the one to be making the knocking rukus since it could have been either of them.
The yelling was all AJ. "No Professor, " Benny spoke up to assure him that wasn't the case at all. Why would they want to do that? Beside, magic would certainly be more useful and generate more success but enough of that train of thought. The older Gryffindor decided to take lead. "And we apologize for the noise, but we found her. Pebbles that is." Cue look over at AJ who currently held possession of the pet rock. Quote:

Guess he was because before them stood just the man she wanted to see. "Not really, but I had to get to you by any means necessary." Benny was apologizing while AJ explained WHY the door was about to be knocked off its hinges. The two standing before Airey were so very different. Meanwhile AJ wasn't sorry because in her mind she didn't do anything wrong.
Just as she was about to tell Airey the magnificent news, Benny spoke up. The boy who you could barely get two words out of suddenly became a chatty cathy. Did her ears deceive her? Did he just say we? Hmmm? Come again?
WE?
WE?
WEEEEEEE?
Excuuuuuse you. Insert finger snaps, head bobbing and all that other sassy girl stuff here. "I think what Benny meant to say is that I found Pebbles while I was spider hunting, and he was so kind as to escort me here." Or she was so kind to drag him along. You know... however you wanted to look at it. Don't mind the possessive fourth year that would do well in a crash course on being a share bear.
Oh, right. He probably wanted Pebbles. AJ began digging around in her back pocket. "I had to make sure she stayed safe." First she extracted her wand. "Mind holding that for me, Benny?" Not really waiting for an answer as she shoved the wand at him. A severely crumpled piece of parchment that had something jotted down it. AJ looked at it with a puzzled expression. "Surely that was important..."
How many things did she have in her pocket? Her fingers wrapped around something else. A piece of an oreo cookie. "Hey, I've been looking for that." OMNOMNOMNOM. Ack... lint. She spluttered a moment and then...
PEBBLES.
Dun
Dun
DUUUUUNNNNN
AJ pulled the rock out and with an extra beamy smile held her up over her head. "Here you are, professor." Was she a good girl? Oh yes she was. Oh yes she was.
Nothing, absolutely nothing that Miss Valentine said registered. At all. Someone may as well have cast Silencio on the Gryffindor because everything after Pebbles went in one ear an directly out the other.
His eyes began to burn when he saw her and soon his vision blurry. Right there. In the stone.
He had reserved himself to not cry in front of students - although he had done so on the rare RARE occasion, which all had to do with Pebbles actually - but the astronomer broke down right there on the spot and in one swift movement he had gingerly snatched Pebbles up in one hand and scooped both Gryffindors up in a tight hug. "Thank you."
He needed a moment here. Words were not happening beyond those two.
