Perhaps more than enough, but that seemed to be the goal of the pair of them: to buy far too much candy. "It would be an honor to get sick eating too much candy with you."

Beaming at Thornton, the color rising in her cheeks so that they looked like two ripe peaches resting on her face, Paige waited somewhat impatiently for him to finish grabbing things from the display until she threw her arms around him in a warm Hufflepuff hug from the back.

Hopefully he wouldn't drop anything he had just grabbed. She had hugged him with an unusually amount of force for a small girl like herself.

"Thank you, for saying that," she whispered. "The best friend bit."

Who didn't like hearing those words? If there was someone, well, Paige thought that they must have a very very lonely existence.
"The honor is all mine," he replied, grinning broadly and giving a small mock bow. Grabbing the candy, and mentally counting the cost in his head, Thornton hummed a little. It was a good thing that he was so distracted by the candy itself, or he would have noticed the color in Paige's cheeks and her smile and... he might have thought about both those things longer than he should have.

But he was in a candy zone, and the concentration was only broken once she'd hugged him from behind. He took a small stutter step, but managed to keep hold of all the candy. Hufflepuff hugs were, in his estimation, among the best kinds of hugs you could get. Now it was his turn to go a bit bright in the cheeks and smile the kind of smiley that makes your eyes squint up. "You don't have to thank me for telling the truth."

Because it was true. Paige was one of his best friends. And if she did manage to let go of her cheerful yet forceful deathgrip hug, they could go on their candy buying and eating way.
