Curls bouncing as she moved, Paige ran her hands gently over the shelves until she happened upon a familiar and welcoming sight. "Hello, Thornton," she chirped as she leaned around him to pluck a few quills from the display. "These are my favorite," she informed, grabbing another one from the shelf to make her grand total of four quills. "Not to use in class, of course. It would be horribly impolite to take advantage of their appearance while a professor was working hard providing us with an education. They are nice while studying though. Help give a little burst of energy and all that."
Not that Thornton had asked for an explanation, but he seemed to be contemplating the confection, so Paige took it upon herself to help make his decision easier. It was a big decision, this candy thing. So intently was he considering the sugar quills that he barely noticed his curly-haired friend until after she spoke. Blinking a bit in surprise, Thornton eventually smiled once his friend registered.
His small smile grew just a little bigger each moment that passed as she explained her like of sugar quills and her rationale for not eating them in class. They were... very different, the two of them. But Thornton counted her as his closest friend. "I think I'll try one, then," he said, with a definitively nod. One to try and then, if he really liked them, he could always get more. Maybe he'd try it before he even left the village so he could double back and get more. "What else is good in here?" Since Paige seemed like a willing candy-guide, Thornton figured her counsel would be best.
