Homework #1

SPOILER!!: Entry 1: Prompt #1
My name is Penelope Wright. The name Penelope comes from Greek Mythology. Penelope was the wife of Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey. My dad really likes Greek mythology and my parents thought that Penelope was a pretty name. Penelope is sort of a long name, but I really like it. When my little sister was younger she couldn't say my whole name, so she has always called me Penny. A lot of other people call me Penny, but I don't really like nicknames, so I only let friends and family call me Penny.

SPOILER!!: Entry 2: Prompt #16
My favorite teacher is Professor Cassie. I think Professor Cassie is a great teacher and she always makes me feel happy.*will add more later*

SPOILER!!: Entry 3: Prompt #15
Astronomy

Astronomy in itself is not something that I find hard, but many astronomy lessons with Professor Flamsteed have been... challenging for me. Contrary to what you may think of when I say that this particular class is challenging, I do not have any problems with understanding the material covered in astronomy lessons. For some reason I often get hurt during the activities during Professor Flamsteed's lessons. In one of my first ever astronomy lessons, I had to face my fear of small spaces by running around in a human sized hamster ball while avoiding a giant pendulum, an activity that did not turn out well for me. This somehow ended up in the yearbook.

During another lesson later that year when we we dropping radiosondes with balloons attached to them out the windows, one of the windows slammed shut in my face. It gave me a bloody nose as well as some cuts on my face.

In my second year at Hogwarts, Professor Flamsteed was possessed by a fairytale character for one of the lessons. That one didn't end well either, and the aftermath was even worse.

Nothing terrible happened to me in astronomy class during my third year at Hogwarts, and so far nothing worse than being splashed with lake water by the giant squid has happened to me this year. Maybe I'll be able to make it to my seventh year without dying in astronomy class. Now that I'm older I feel like I can handle Professor Flamsteed's lessons, and I believe that I have the potential to succeed and not die in astronomy.

SPOILER!!: Entry 4 Prompt #18
If I had to do something over, I think I would change everything that I said and did in the History of Magic Lesson about the Ilfracombe Incident. Everything was just horrible and I really don't like to think about it.

What happens when new Eagles are pushed out of the nest, with little in the way of guidance from their absentee Prefects? Why don’t you ask the little birdies; Kyroh Scabior and Penelope Wright? Being the son of former History of Magic Professor, Everett Scabior, proved not enough to keep the little Scabior out of a child’s squabble with housemates; so much for birds of a feather. They say knowledge can make a man rabid and the indignant little Penelope Wright proved that better than anyone else. Can you blame her? It must have been too much seeing another of her kind being wrongly educated. Can’t have them sounding too much like their red counterparts after all. We believe the expression was ‘Use that Ravenclaw brain of yours.’

All this is perfectly excusable until you’ve got Eagles wishing they were not. Ouch Mr. Scabior, truly crushing for the house that took you in. Trouble in paradise up in those towers, spewing into the lessons perhaps and what can be said about Mr. Barrington only a couple seats down. Trying to pull on Odessa with the responsibility card eh? It would seem tears and dramatic exits are the Ravenclaw way. What exactly is going on with the
bluebloods this term and why haven’t we been told before now?

Let’s try to keep a level head Dearies, after all if you’ve all gone bonkers, how much hope is there for the rest of us?

SPOILER!!: Entry 5: Prompt #13
Before I came to Hogwarts, I spent a lot of time in my father's study reading. It's like a library in there. Because my dad is a muggle, all of his books are muggle books. I like to sit in a chair and read.

SPOILER!!: Entry 6:Prompt #8
Everyone in my family except my dad has a lot of pets. My mom and my sister really like animals. I have a cat, a pet rock, and an owl that I bring to school with me. I also have two kittens and a fish at home, but I don't really think of them as mine because I don't see them for most of the year and my sister takes care of them. Actually, I didn't even know that I had a pet fish until recently. I thought it was my sister's fish, and it basically is hers but she says its mine.

My mother has a lot of cats. I don't even know how many she has.

SPOILER!!: Entry 7: Prompt #25
I have two pets with me at school, an owl named Ophelia and a cat named Orion. Three pets if my pet rock Luna counts as a pet. At home I have two kittens named Cassiopeia and Andromeda and a fish.

For additional information on pets in my family, see page 6. *Will add more later*

SPOILER!!: Entry 8: Prompt #21
What is the scariest thing that has happened to you personally?

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you? This question is a lot harder to answer than one would think. I have been in some scary life threatening situations, and had other things happen to me that I think are scary.

One thing that I found really scary at the time when I was a first year was the pendulum dodgeball activity in astronomy class. (For additional information on pendulum dodgeball, see page 3.)

The other really scary things that have happened to me are definitely more dangerous. One time I set my robes on fire with accidental wand sparks in my second year at Hogwarts. I totally freaked out because of the fire, but Professor Flamsteed put the fire out.

I am allergic to wheat, which isn't a major problem for me because I take antiallergen potions every year. One time when I hadn't had a potion I ate something that contained wheat. The allergic reaction started out as red bumps that were just itchy and annoying, but then all of a sudden I couldn't breathe and it was really scary.

SPOILER!!: Entry 9: Prompt 20
One of the most influential people in my life is my dad. He always encourages me to read and ask questions. This has made me the curious Ravenclaw that I am today.
