be curious, not judgmental Smart phones. That was name was really appropriate because they WERE pretty smart, and Sophie's smile echoed the professor's enthusiasm toward the topic. Cell phones were AWESOME and she wished she'd been introduced to them sooner. She missed being able to send pictures of herself to Tobes, making funny faces and communicating purely through facial expressions like that. Two-way mirrors were cool, but there was something about just sending a still photograph that was EXTRA cool.
Maybe it was just that it was a Muggle thing. Muggle things were always extra cool to Sophie Brown.
As Moxley went on to explain how cell phones actually worked, Sophie took notes. She'd given this plenty of thought and research, but hearing the professor give the exact logistics and details of it was enlightening even MORE to just how cool it was. SO COOL, MOXLEY. SO COOL.
What negatives were there, though? Well... a few came to mind. They were obvious for a pureblood who didn't grow up around Muggles - she was always quick to notice the drawbacks of things that didn't involve magic, so her hand went up. "With landlines, y'can pretty much always make a call... but cell phones can be tricky 'cause y'might be out in the middle of nowhere and lose service and not be able to use your phone at ALL. Like you said, the further you are from a cell phone tower, the worse it is to make the phone work. But I know landlines can always work, unless the power in the whole place is out or something, right? But at least they're more reliable to make a call and have, like... a connection or whatever than cell phones are. So you could be stranded somewhere in an emergency with your cell phone and need to phone for help, but because of getting no service, you'd be outta luck." That's why being magical was safer and better all-around - she never had to worry about running out of magic.
She considered herself very, very fortunate.
