~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ Sabel looked between the two Professors, the concern that had built up turning to an unsettling unease in his gut. He shifted his weight as he listened, eyes roaming along the tracks, across the trees and trying to see through the undergrowth. There was no doubt the two men had searched fervently, the evidence was all there, on their clothes, in their voices, in their eyes.
Still, he wasn't of the nature to not try himself. To just throw his hands up and call it a day. "What about up the trees? Or...." Hippogriffs could fly, right? "Do you think they took off?" Not much running room for a runway, but it was a faint hope. Tracks didn't just end.
But even as he asked the questions, moved to where the tracks did end, there was little explanation for it. Nothing. Like they had said. Not even bark scrapings or dropped needles. And he did search, walking around the area of the last tracks, often crossing over what were surely Javier and Cosgrach's prints in the snow. He barely even noticed the arrival of Truebridge.
