Toby was a little busy with the search for his elusive wand, but he noticed Soph move to stand beside him and then just as quickly move away again. He scanned the floor with a growing sense of ease, though it wasn't like he hadn't misplaced it a million times before now. Still, seemed like the perfect thing to round off this awful day.

"I can't... I can't... I can't find..." Toby mumbled, considering getting down on the and crawling around to see where it might have gotten kicked to. "Where's my-..." But at that moment he suddenly heard Soph's voice, and looked up automatically at the tone of it.

... Oh. OH. He had to... oh.

He'd gotten so distracted and caught up in his search that for a moment he'd forgotten about... all that. But now Toby remembered and all that worry and sadness and guilt came flooding right back. He hurried over to Airey and Soph, but instead of saying anything once he got there (other than a "Sorry, Professor," for taking his time), Toby simply cast his eyes downward. This time to avoid looking at the man he had let down rather than to search for his wand.
