Caleb had decided to name his griffin Sven. Because why not? Smiling as he approached Sven's cage, he reached the creature and greeted it with a grin. "Mornin' Sven!" he said happily as he went to the cage. The griffin was still half asleep it seemed, and he simply lifted his head in acknowledgement before putting it back down.
The first thing Caleb noticed was that Sven was all out of water. That wouldn't do at all, would it! Whistling happily, he pulled out his wand and pointed at the empty bowl. "Aguamenti!" he exclaimed, watching as the bowl filled rapidly with water. Sven started to get up and wandered over to watch, dipping his beak in the bowl and lapping up some water after it was all full. As he drank, Caleb scratched his back, which caused his little lion tail to start wagging. Huh. Caleb didn't know their tails wagged...or maybe it was just a SVEN thing...
Kate was still trying to get back into the hang of things since coming back to school after missing the first half of the school year. The Care of Magical Creatures homework was actually the first homework she was going to attempt this school year. Well, if you count the homework her mom made her do during homeschooling, that is. Kate entered the creatures housing area and looked around for the griffin she'd been assigned to work with.
Oh, there it was!
"Hey there, ...!" Kate greeted. Had she named the griffin? She couldn't even remember.
"...uhh...Chad!" Chad was a good name. Was this thing even a male? Kate pulled up a bucket, turned it upside down, and sat by Chad.
"It's me, Kate. I had some spare time, so I wanted to come visit you." Hmm... What did you talk to a griffin about?
"Are you staying warm? Do you need anymore raw meat?" She had no idea if the creature could communicate this way, but maybe...just maybe...it could at least sense somebody was here to keep it company.
Hearing a voice nearby, Kate turned to see Caleb.
"Hey, Caleb," she said with a smile. What was it about Caleb, hmm? Kate literally ran into him around every corner. Well, no, not literally, but their paths met quite often. Seeing Caleb scratch his griffin's back, Kate began scratching Chad's back.
"Do you like that, boy?" she asked.
