He was awesome with dragons (probably because, as his brother had once pointed out, they had similar temperaments and therefore probably a mutual understanding... but Dale was a nerd and always said stuff like that), but then this guy had never seen him in action, so it was an understandable deduction, he supposed.

"Yeah, I'd say so. Pretty good, sure," he replied, really fighting the urge to comment that it helped that he loved dragons, because he was pretty sure he'd already mentioned that a few times. "... Are you?" 'Cause he said he'd gone down to see the Gringotts ones and all. So was that just for a shufti or because he was a pro?

Oh... ahhhh, yeah. Jake rubbed at the back of his neck, making a sort of 'yyyeeeeahhh...' face as he did so. "I guess it is. I do the life-changing thing a lot..." Which was... weird, considering how little he liked change when it really came down to it. But now the guy said it out loud, he realised he did have a tendency to... move around a lot, in the metaphorical sense of the word. Jake shrugged. "I mean, what can I say. Some of the people people you come across in my old job... things might've turned out better if someone got to 'em earlier." He was speaking from... personal experience here. Kazi, Truebridge, Kingsley. They'd all done that for him, stopped him going down a dark road, and now he wanted to do the same. But... this stranger didn't need to know that. "And Hit Wizard-ing wasn't really my thing."
