She came back to herself with tears running down now smooth cheeks. "I wanted to eat people! Soph, I don't want to eat anyone." It made her feel kind of monstrous to think that she'd been chasing... no, hunting someone just a moment before. Was she kind of monstrous too?
Dot wiped her face hastily. "Gimme some of those candies. No one should have to be a wolf if they don't wanna be a wolf." Except for werewolves, but that was a social justice issue for a different day. Oh. Oh... no. No. Were those tears?
Oh no.
"Dot..." Soph tried to soothe her gently, wrapping the crying Slytherin in a huge hug and pocketing her pop rocks and wand so she could reach up a free hand to smooth down the younger girl's hair. "I know you'd never want to eat anyone or hurt anyone or anything." The kid was too sweet. "We'll save the others, okay? We'll free 'em from that. It'll be okay."
She may have been talking to the fourth year like she was a young child, but she didn't know how else to calm her down and get her to stop crying. When she pulled away from the hug, Dot seemed to be okay, though, and even more determined than Sophie had ever seen her. Determined to DE-WOLFIFY THEIR CLASSMATES.
"We'll be a team, you and me," Soph told her quietly, taking the pop rocks back out and sharing them with Dot, then got her wand back out. "We'll turn people back, one at a time, okay? When one of us catches one, the other can hurry to administer the cure, and then we'll keep going. How 'bout that?" Would that make her feel better and fix the situation?
