Manus Invisibilis.

That was what it sounded like to Toby, and he could hear a bunch of different people saying it if he listened closely enough, so he was inclined to believe that that was the incantation. It wasn't exactly ringing any bells, but then Toby's memory was sort of... like a sieve. A sieve that was riddled with holes, sometimes.

Point was, he knew the incantation now. That was all he needed.

"Manus... Invisibilis," the Hufflepuff mumbled to himself, not wanting to speak too loudly, worried that he might somehow end up disturbing someone else. "Manus Invisibilis." Sigh. "... Manus Invisibilis."

The last time, he'd added the wand movement, aiming it at the dummy. But, again, he didn't expect anything to really happen. Every time he learned a new spell, Toby had to really think about what he was trying to do, so that then he could visualise and understand it and everything, and only then would it work for him. But despite trying to listen earlier, he'd not really processed the instructions. A lot of the information had floated through one ear, wafted tantalisingly around his brain where he couldn't quite reach it to pin it down, then straight back out again. It was infuriating, but again, he felt like he deserved to be finding the lesson difficult.

It wasn't so easy to listen to people and just hope they repeated everything Dakest had said, verbatim, though, so in the end Toby just had to sort of... stand there, watching the person nearest to him practice the spell and see what happened. He wanted to sit back down and put his head on his desk again, but that was sort of impossible, as said desk was currently flailing around in front of him.

Maybe he'd try the spell again. Watching other kids succeed in the spell was giving him an idea of what he was supposed to do. So... maybe...?

... Or maybe not. Toby's heart wasn't really in it. Shocker.
