SPOILER!!: Entry 1: Prompt #1!
January 18th, 2087:
My full name is Aditya Rehman and is an Indian/Arabic combination. It is written as आदित्य रेह्मन in Hindi. That’s right, I have no middle name I honestly have no idea why I was not given one. I guess it’s because my parents decided to keep the tradition going since neither of them have no middle names. My name was chosen the traditional way in my mom’s culture. There was a Naming Ceremony (‘Naamkaran’ in Hindi) about a dozen days after I was born. An Astrologer (Pandit) conducted this ceremony in which my birth date, position of the stars and planets among other factors were considered before the Astrologer suggested a letter for my first name to begin with. It was actually my dad who suggested the name and no, I wasn’t named after anyone.

For some persons, Aditya is a mouthful for them and luckily, my name has an easily shortened version- Adi- which is my most common nickname. Apart from that I have Hippogriff and Griff which were given by my bestie Benny due to my obsession with the creatures. Another one is Adster and this one was given to me by my friend Alec Summers in my first year and Adi!Duck given to me by Eolodie Robertser.

Since ‘Aditya’ means ‘Sun’ in Hindi, in a way my dad gave me a very fitting name since I like to think of myself as bright with a ton of energy. I don’t think there could have been a better one for me. Thanks, Dad!

The most recent milestone is my seventeenth birthday which was on January 17th, 2087. It was really a memorable one for many reasons, the most important one being that I’m now considered an adult in the Wizarding world and so I’d be able to do magic out of Hogwarts (How cool is that?!) It also seemed to be the birthday that practically all my friends remembered and I scored a whole lot of presents including another stuffed Hippogriff, Chocolate Frogs, a mini Whomping Willow and an awesome Hippogriff feather quill.

One of the best lessons also happened on this day- the joint Potions, Astronomy and Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson where the focus was all about the full moon. Besides the even with AJ puking all over Professor Airey, I got to start working on one of the most complicated and awesome potions of all time- the Wolfsbane Potion. Plus, I got to be a werewolf! Though I really wasn’t a true one, it was still so much fun using the activity to extract a bit of revenge on Benny by constantly hounding him and trying to turn him into one too. He ended up turning me back to normal but it was still so much fun!

It was almost a perfect day and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have quite a few hobbies, actually but my main one is playing cricket. I really have no recollection of ever being interested in the game until one day when my muggle friends and I decided to have a game on the street where we lived (Don’t worry. This wasn’t one of those busy streets). It was my turn to bat for my team and for the first time, I was holding a cricket bat. I am still sure that I hadn’t even held it correctly at the time. When the first ball was bowled to me, I swung the bat so hard that I smashed the ball into one of our grumpy old neighbour's house, breaking a window in the process.

I cannot tell you how livid that old fella was. My mom and dad had to replace his window but I don’t think they minded because that day, I had found something I was actually good at and made me happy. I signed up for the cricket club in my neighbourhood soon after, making me one of the youngest members. I trained a lot and gradually, I was able to bat even better. I learnt how to defend myself from getting out or how to look for signs of what type of bowling the bowler would do. I also developed bowling skills, becoming what was called a spin bowler. Being both a bowler and batsman gave me the status of an ‘all rounder’. With this training I was selected for my Primary School’s cricket team. I’m not boasting or anything but let’s just say they won a lot more matches after that. I have many trophies to prove that from games when I was named ‘Player of the Match’.

I was offered a scholarship during my fifth year so that I could have a career in cricket and study at the same time but I declined since that would mean leaving Hogwarts. Besides, I had already decided on my career. I do coach the younger members of the club during the summer and other time off from Hogwarts.

I love playing this sport because it helped me develop patience and calmness in trying situations like when your team is doing badly and you have to keep a cool head to play through until the end. The sense of competition is another reason I enjoy the game. I like when the matches are not skewed in my team’s favour because it gives me so much determination to win that it’s unbelievable! It also gave me a sense of belonging (though I never had difficulty fitting in) and to appreciate teamwork.

I’m so glad I decided to play that game with my friends when I was six years old.

My future plans include having a gigantic Hippogriff and Unicorn farm. Originally, it was supposed to be just a Hippogriff farm but then AJ came along and she wanted Unicorns so I figured, hey, why not? In addition, Benny and I plan to have a riding school featuring dragons and hippogriffs. How cool is that?! Of course we will not be able to use real dragons because of the laws and what not but we just might take a page out of Professor Quigley’s and Professor Bellaire’s books and transfigure them out of rocks.

At the end of my Fourth year, I was recommended by Professor Culloden to the 'Most Extraordinary Society of Potioneers' because I excelled in Potions. I plan to take advantage of this, using it to take a side job so as to not go rusty in the Potions field. I plan to invent more potions as well as to give lessons to students who struggle at the subject

I would have loved to have a career in the field of cricket but as I mentioned earlier, I gave that up to continue attending Hogwarts but I don’t regret that. Hopefully, I will still be able to coach the muggle kids at it from time to time. I just know that the moment I graduate from Hogwarts and even before I start Wizarding University to study Magizoology, I will begin working on these plans. Why these plans you may ask? Because I love working with potions creatures and I’ll have my two best friends with me all the while. What more could a guy ask for?

I don’t really think of my family as unique. We're just us; normal persons. It’s mainly just six of us in total- my parents, grand parents (my dad’s parents) and my uncle. We all live in one house but it’s never crazy or anything. Somehow my mom manages to keep the calm. Since I’m on the topic of her, I’ll continue. My mom’s name is Indira Rehman (nee Rai) and she was born in Gujurat but she and her parents moved to Kent when she was a few months old. She has been working at the Daily Prophet as a writer since she was nineteen. My dad, Saieed Rehman, who is a muggle along and along with his older brother, Amir, was abandoned by their parents when they were one and three years respectively. They were adopted shortly after this by a couple who were unable to have kids of their own. My dad’s and uncle’s current names were what were given to them by my grans since no one knew their real names.

So, this completes my immediate family. Everyone is unique in their own way. Mom is the serious down to earth one, dad is more like me- always looking for the fun side of things. The same can be said for Uncle Amir who is like a second father to me. Him and dad as adult as they may be chronologically, can be like children sometimes when they have pretend wrestling or do other silly stuff brothers do. My grandparents are kind and very loving persons even though they can be serious at times especially when they give me advice about life. They’re like grandparents should be, you know what I mean? I'm always grateful to them for adopting dad and Uncle Amir. They're like Hufflepuffs and I love them for those traits. Then there’s me! I’m so much like my dad and uncle but at the same time I am really close to my mom since I think she keeps me balanced with certain things... like not over eating too many sweets.

So, that’s why we’re unique. Each of us has different traits and brings something different to the family. There’s mom balancing us out with her down to earth personality; dad, Uncle Amir and I bringing the fun side and my grans passing on their knowledge to me. Different personalities making up a tight knit family.

The oldest person in my family is my grandmother. Yes, she’s older than my grandfather. She’s always telling me stories about my childhood but the one that stuck with me was the story that seemed to have started my like for scones and grape jelly.

Grand told me that when I was five years old, she had one day baked a batch of scones and left them on the kitchen counter. Apparently I was drawn to the delicious scent of it and soon found myself in the kitchen. I was too short to reach the counter so according to grandma, I pushed a chair close to it, climbed up, plopped myself down on the counter and helped myself to the baked things.

That wasn’t how she and my mom found me though. There had been grape jelly in a container right next to the scones. Gran said I was dunking a scone in the container after every bite. I had even gotten the jelly all over my clothes and face and managed to get it on some of the other scones. Since then, grape jelly covered scones have been a thing in our home. I had started a new tradition! Even when I go home for the holidays, I would still sit on that same counter and eat my scones with tons of grape jelly. Some habits never die.

My Primary school education was not that bad. I really enjoyed every bit. Not for the studying bit but for the friends I made. Honestly, muggle subjects did not really interest me. I was very bad at maths, always getting numbers wrong when I did computations. English wasn’t bad but Science was the best! I loved doing experiments or projects. I struggled with certain topics but I was always able to get through with them and their exams because my parents made sure they helped me as much as they could. As I mentioned earlier, having friends certainly helped me get through those years and I did have cricket, of course.

Coming to Hogwarts, I had no apprehension about failing at things the first time around no matter how frustrated and annoyed I would get about it. I was already looking forward to doing magic because I watched my mom do it all the time. Sure enough, magic was tough for the first few years and it would take me forever to learn spells sometimes but it was always so fun. I think it’s because the Professors here always have fun activities to make learning better. Sure, my Primary school had those but they weren’t as exciting. So over all, I would say that my Hogwarts education is by far the best. It would be, right? We’re dealing with magic here and that’s enough to make anything more interesting.

My favourite and easiest subject is definitely Care of Magical Creatures. I hadn’t realised that I had such a fondness for creatures until my first encounter with the class. It surprised me how well I got along with them just as well as I got along with persons. I always look forward to these classes because I never know what creatures Professor Thompson is going to bring in for us to study. By far the best lessons were the ones with the Hippogriffs.

Besides the fact of having creatures to interact with, I enjoy the classes because Professor Thompson always comes up with these cool exercises and activities for us to do. Another reason why I am fond of this class is because it showed me exactly what I want to do for my career. Alright, so I had an obsession with Hippogriffs before I came to Hogwarts but it only cemented my determination to get involved with magical creatures. All these reasons make me enjoy the subject and I only have a few more lessons for my sixth year and just one more year of the classes for my seventh year so I plan to make the best of them. Thank you, Professor Thompson, for the awesome lessons! You’re one of the coolest Professors.

I have a few Professors that I consider my favourite and it would be difficult for me to single out which of them would be my sole one. These Professors that I consider my favourite would be: Professors Culloden, Bellaire, Glendower, Cassie and Truebridge. An interesting assembly, I know, but I happen to like them for various reasons. It may be from their personalities or the way they conduct their classes. I’ll go into a bit more details about those reasons now.

I like Professor Culloden because he has a GREAT sense of humour. I can’t forget the time he played along with my prank on Benny during my third year. Also, the man has helped me out in Potions a lot. He guided me on how to research and brew potions correctly, even sticking with me for six months just so that I can brew Felix Felicis successfully. Because of him, I want to be a Potioneer . Professor Bellaire… she may be strict but as for long as I can remember, I have admired her Transfiguration skills. She helped me understand Human Transfiguration more by giving me some tips and practice out of class. Professors Glendower and Cassie I like so much for basically the same reasons: they are always happy and positive and their lessons are always super fun. Those lessons bring out my creative side more than perhaps any other lesson, especially History of Magic. These two ladies are simply the best because they take such great care of their students. Professor Headmistress as I call her, is someone I’m yet to decide exactly why she is one of my favourites. It has to be because her lessons are so well planned and I’m majorly impressed by her talent at Herbology.

Another reason may also be because I get along with all five of them so much. I feel comfortable approaching them about anything. They’re all awesome persons and I think I was quite lucky to have them teaching me at Hogwarts.

The best advice I can give anyone is to never doubt your friendship with your best friend if you have one. It causes a lot of pain to both persons involved. No, wait. Not only you two but also to the others who you’re mutual friends with. If you feel that your bestie is doing stuff to make you feel unappreciated or left out, have a talk with them and not just wait until things get tense between you guys. Eventually, it will expand into something more and you’ll end up having a row and not talking.

This happened to Benny and I. I was so angry with him for not trusting me. A lot of the time I had to resist the urge to throw a hex at him whenever I saw him. But I suppose I was wrong too. I guess I made him feel left out when I started hanging out too much with Henric. I think highly of Benny and so I forgot that even he can feel that way. But the main thing is, we’re besties again thanks to that awesome lady that is Professor Glendower. So folks, no doubting and fighting with your besite, okay? If it does come to that, however, you can get someone else you trust to help sort thing out.

SPOILER!!: Entry 11: Prompt #20!

The most influential person in my life has to be my bestie, Benjamin Atreyu. This is because he is always so focused, brilliant at everything he does and mostly not as stubborn as I am. How should I say this? Benny’s like… hmmm, the perfect best friend! Yes, that’s exactly it. He’s always there for, especially during my fifth year when I had that misunderstanding with AJ.

I aim to be just like Benny in that way especially. I want to be there for my friends whenever they need me. I want to be the best friend that I could be to them. Also, sometimes when I achieve something, the success tends to get to my head even though I try to hide it. Benny isn’t like that at all so that’s definitely one of the traits I would like to have. But overall, the main aim for me is to be a great friend.

SPOILER!!: Entry 12: Prompt #21!

The scariest thing that ever happened to me was the moment I realised I had a lot of insecurity. I realised this in my third year. Along with feeling scared, I also felt nervous and shocked. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to control it. Actually, I struggle with it every day mainly when it comes to Benny and AJ. Why? I’m always afraid they’ll find someone else better than me to be their best friend and boyfriend respectively.

I guess you could say I live in that scary moment every day. It doesn’t get better even though I know my two best friends would never leave me behind. But sometimes it’s hard not feel that way when I see Angel with Benny or AJ’s great friendship with Zander. I try not to feel that way by being confident enough to tell that negative voice in my head to shut up and go away. Some days it works and some days it doesn’t.

SPOILER!!: Entry 13: Prompt #22!

There are many good things that have happened to me so it’s difficult to choose the best. I could say that finding friends wherever I go who accept me with my craziness and goofiness, having awesome best friends, passing my OWLs despite being a wreck before them and more. However, the one I think I’ll stick to is having AJ as my girlfriend. I never thought I would have found someone who was equally as crazy and bubbly as I am. Plus, she LOVES sweets and has a great sense of humour as well. She is basically the female version of me. Or am I the male version of her? Either way, she’s the best thing to happen to me ever since I first met her at Sugarplum’s Candy Shop. I made up a silly story about Chocolate Frogs and for moment she almost believed it. It was so funny but from that day, we had the start of our friendship.

AJ is always there for me no matter what. During OWL time, she helped me to get organised and to study. If ever there was someone who could put up with my jokes, pranks and teasing, it’s her. She doesn’t get angry at stuff like that. Instead, she would laugh and try to get you back. AJ is pretty laid back and doesn’t care about the girly stuff which is even better because I can get to play sports with her. I’m really glad I bumped into her that summer about four years ago then asked her to be my girlfriend maybe about a year later.

I have two pets, actually but the focus of this entry will be my toad, Gus also known as Guster. I got him at a pet adoption in Diagon Alley when he was just two years old so I’ve had him for five years now. My mom was reluctant to let me get Guster because she doesn’t like toads but I managed to make her change her mind. The guy who handled the adoption said that Gus can croak the alphabet but I’m still yet to hear him do so. I can’t help but wonder if it was all a scam to get Gus adopted but I don’t care. I love Guster and all his toady habits whether he can croak the alphabet or not.

I mentioned earlier that my mom doesn’t like toads. There’s this incident that I remember clearly that had happened a few days after I got Gus. I was playing hide and seek with him… or rather he was always hiding and I was seeking. Anyway, this one time, I was crawling around on the floor of the living room looking for him but I couldn’t find him for the longest while. I was about to give up when I heard my mom shrieking at the top of her lungs. I jumped up from behind the couch where I was searching to see her sitting, petrified on the chair opposite with Guster perched on her head. I collapsed on the arm of the couch, dying of laughter while she yelled at me to get ‘that, slimy, cold animal’ off of her head. I finally moved him off but it was a while again before she would go near to him. That’s one of the best things Gus has ever done and since then, whenever I wear him on my own head I always remember when he first jumped on mom’s head. I still crack up at that to this day.

My mother and her parents came from India while my grandparents came from Pakistan. I’ve never visited either. When I was younger, I had no interest in visiting them especially India since it’s so crowed. People are everywhere! That’s what I used to tell myself but now I’m actually considering visiting both to get a feel of what they’re like as well as the persons who live there. Who knows, I might even get to meet some of my favourite cricketers.

No, I do not think my ancestry has anything to do with the person I am today; not fully at least. I would like to think I found myself on my own. However, some of the cricketers I admire are from India and Pakistan… maybe that would explain why I support those two teams. My ancestry, I mean. Now that I think about it, I do study a lot how these cricketers bowl and bat so for that sport aspect of my life, I can say there has been a bit of influence. With the rest of me it’s not applicable.
