Toby still hadn't moved. This position, with his face buried in his folded arms, seemed like the safest possible position he could be in. He couldn't see anyone and no-one could see him. Or... no-one could see his face, at least, and considering he couldn't trust his face (his eyes in particular) not to give away his emotions, that was all he really needed. Honestly, if he stayed like this for long enough, he could pretend that nothing upsetting had happened. Of course, that only happened for as long as it took before there was an uncomfortable tug of guilt in his stomach which sent him tumbling back to sadness.

The dominant voice in the room changed from Culloden's to Dakest's, and in a completely subconscious move, Toby drew himself in even more, while his fidgeting feet moved faster still. He was SORT of listening... except not really. He acknowledged that words were happening, at least, and tried best to pay attention to them, but it was difficult. Probably he'd need to add THIS to his list of extra studying too. Find someone who had actually written all this down, maybe ask them to go through it with him or just borrow their notes. Go through the textbooks for all the subjects. Maybe visit the professors an-... no, okay, maybe not that. He'd catch up in his own way. Didn't really deserve for them to spare the time to help him out when it was his own fault he'd fallen behind.

Toby tuned back in in time to catch the tail end of the question, but he didn't make a move to answer, though he found himself wondering if Animalis Fidelis would work. It didn't matter that werewolves weren't technically completely creatures; hadn't Piers used the spell on Javy in that one lesson that felt like so long ago? The question really lay in whether the "dark" nature of the werewolf would allow it to work, if the spell was strong enough. He wanted to ask now, had made himself curious, but the need to keep himself to himself and to dissolve into the background of the lesson was a lot stronger. Toby simply hoped that someone else would raise the topic, so he didn't have to say it, but resolved to look it up if they didn't or go back and ask later when he didn't think he would burst into tears the moment he opened his mouth to speak. His head remained resolutely lowered.
