Penelope had been staring at the light from the full moon since she had entered the room. There was something about the full moon that she found very alluring. It was so beautiful... She could hear Professor Flamsteed talking, but her eyes remained fixated on the window and the moonlight. When the bluebell flame sun appeared and dimmed the light of the moon in the room, Penelope snapped out of her trance like state. Had she missed anything? This was somewhat worrying. She was usually able to stay focused on the lesson and keep caught up with notes. It seemed like the lesson today would be about werewolves, with the astronomy portion of the lesson focused on lunar cycles.
Grabbing her moon on a stick and standing up, Penelope held it out between her and the sun as Professor Flamsteed had instructed. Yes, you could only see half of the moon from earth. "We always see the same half of the moon from earth." Penelope looked at her moon on a stick. This phase of the moon was the new moon, when the moon was not visible from earth. Penelope moved her arm to the right so that more light illuminated the half of the styrofoam ball that she could see. The amount of light that you could see on the moon depended on what angle you looked at it from. When she reached the point that her styrofoam ball looked more or less like a full moon, she held it there and looked at it. The full moon was beautiful.
