Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne was
honoured with an OBE, the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours, for his contribution to drama, announced the British Monarchy on Friday.
Redmayne, who will star as Newt Scamander in
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is one of many actors to get an accolade for the Queen's Birthday Honours, including fellow Brits and Oscar nominees Benedict Cumberbatch (CBE) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (CBE).
Redmayne received a great deal of recognition and praise for his stage and screen roles, which have so far won him a Tony award (for
Red on Broadway in 2010) and an Academy Award (for
The Theory of Everything in 2015).
The actor will get a medal honour at Buckingham Palace sometime this year as part of their continuous investiture ceremonies.
Many congratulations to Eddie Redmayne on the honour!
