Alright, he was not going to lie down for this conversation because, apparently, Miss Brown had the wrong impression of what exactly he was concerned about. While he was not a man to put subjective labels as "never" when it came to someone's potential to being Dark - because, as a wise wizard was once quoted - 'we've all got both light and dark inside us'.
Although he was willing to put galleons down on Sophie Brown having much more light in her than dark. Even if her mood had been a bit bleak these days.
But then she got to the latter half of her monologue. NOW they were getting somewhere.
"Rest assured, Miss Brown, I have a fully functioning brain" he chuckled., setting his book down properly on one of the end tables and sitting up properly to give the Ravenclaw her undivided attention. Although he could not say the same for the rest of the wizarding world. After all, he had to remind people from time to time that the Sun did not revolve around the Earth.
Leaning forward a bit so his elbows were resting on his knees, he pressed his palms against one another and put the tips of his fingers to his lips while he thought a bit more on what to say next. "My concerns lie, Miss Brown, in the impact it is having on you," he finally said, lifting his head and lowering his hands. "And not just academically. Although, since we have breache that subject, I would be more than happy to write letters to potential universities and employers to discredit such accusations." Even if that was more of the role of a Head of House, as an educator with the best interests of his students at heart, he would gladly take on that responsibility as well.
