Between looking skeptical and confused with the mention of Sod's law, it went away when the Gryffindor Prefect mentioned the fairies, "
Yes.." What about them he wondered briefly before the magical words were said. Gone. And not just the Fairies but the Augureys too?

..They're all gone?" How could that be as the Professor went over the arrangement in his head. Okay, so perhaps having one cage separating the two creature's own wasn't enough to stop the Augureys from feasting on the Fairies. But they were absent too? Something wasn't making sense to him given the old age of the Augureys made them unable to leave the barn. Did he perhaps miss a locking charm during the night and they escaped? He didn't think so but..
Hmm.. Professor Thompson may have missed out on the fish offering, but the rest of the message was loud and clear to him. "
We'll have to see about that then." He then closed his office door behind him. "
Let's go check the whole Housing, Miss Grevyson, with any luck they could just be hiding." And if that weren't the case then... well.. he'll deal with it.
