Dale looked around the room again, musing on it, before continuing on the topic of secrets.

"Well, yeah," he said, with a shrug of his shoulder. "Like, it's in the job contract, sort of thing. No blood oaths or Unbreakable Vows or anything like that." Dale had a sudden mental image of himself letting slip this detail or that and immediately discovering that, say, every time he opened his mouth he let out a great squawk or siren noise instead. That seemed like the sort of thing that might happen.

Dale grinned at Lex's eagerness then, even let out a little laugh before taking another bite of his sandwich. Heh. How to put this. "I may not be under an Unbreakable Vow, but I wouldn't be surprised if the job contract I signed had some kind of sneaky enchantment on it. One wrong word and I might..." he scrabbled around the recesses of his mind for some kind of creative possibility "... end up letting out a banshee cry whenever I open my mouth." Yeah, actually... Dale didn't know a whole lot about Rainey but he wouldn't be surprised if that happened. And he wouldn't want to face the man if it did, either. Merlin, no thank you. "I think I'll stick with my own dulcet tones."

But really, maybe if there weren't that sliiiight possibility, he'd probably have dished the dirt, in a manner of speaking.
House elves in the Ministry? Something she never really thought of before--even if he was only joking. "Reckon Creature Control would have some hand in that then and it wouldn't surprise me either. Heard the Department Head on that level's a real nutter." Mismatched furniture meant one of two things, one thing being an unsound mind left to do the decorating. Either that or an extreme lack of coordinating with each other when decorating in the first place...

While Dale explained his contract concerns, Lex finished off her muffin and reached for the ham and cheese from the bag. Thing is...the more she listened was the more interested she became....

"D'you really think it'll happen? Like they actually rig stuff like in our Department? I'd have thought something more deadly because...well...MLE and all but it might not be so bad, even if only to see if it works." Lex scooted a little closer but remained planted on the arm of the chair, hazel eyes taking him in with a new curiosity. "Naturally we gotta try this now. It's the only real thing to do now that we've thought about it." Or well...now that she'd been told the possibility of it all. He should find this just as fascinating because it was.

"Worst case scenario, something DOES go wrong and we gotta make a trip down to Accidents and Catastrophes to fix it before the boss finds out." But Rainey was always busy with something else. What were the odds he'd go looking for one of his type-y scribe people? Even more, what were the odds he would go looking for Dale specifically when there were others employed.

Fool proof. They had to. Yes? Yes.
