He looked at his dark tea with nostalgia drawn on his old face. "Then had some personal issues and took a break for a couple of years before I came here. It was refreshing and most exciting to teach young children again." He looked quite genuine when he said that, too. He adored his students, considered himself a grandfather to all.

The old man laughed at Dakest's reaction. "Oh have you met Sherman? He's the most kind and uncomplicated friend anyone could ever have." It wouldn't even be right to label him as the friend in the 'high place', though the old man and his wheelchair had gone a long way, now ruling over the entire ministry. However, Botros and Sherman's friendship was much simpler than it would look to strangers.

A decent job? Botros didn't know whether to believe Dakest or not. Was he being polite to Ab's face because of said friendship with Sherman? Huh. "So I've heard..." He started, wanting to expand on the subject and perhaps deliver some feedback to his buddy when his eye caught the sight of a couple of students' backs in the Back Alley across the street. He stopped mid sentence and squinted through the window glass. They didn't seem to be moving, they simply stoodthere which was... worrying. "Some children are in the Back Alley. I think we should check on them..." He didn't like them hanging out back, could be doing something inadvisable.

"No, it certainly doesn't." A chuckle left Sabel, one that turned slightly awkward as it trailed off. Was this man a mind-reader? An unasked question answered, after an implication was taken straight forward. He shrugged off the thought for paying attention to what was being said, discarding the illusion as paranoia born from fatigue. Coffee was a good fix for such things, and so he took a sip.

But a lifetime Professor? Sabel curiously wondered what other subjects the man taught, and how broad his knowledge must be. Questions bubbled forth into the brief recount of history, trapped behind the etiquette of listening and not interrupting. And even then, when Botros had finished, they were kept quiet behind an understanding smile. Refreshing, was one way to put it. Certainly required a different wiring of the mind.

As did politics. Sabel wanted to respond that a politician, by definition, could never be uncomplicated but that too was swallowed. It would do no good offhandedly insulting the man's friend, especially when he had technically never met the guy. So, he played the safe card, albiet the truthful one. "Can't say I've had the opportunity. Just...degrees of association if you will."

Now that he thought of it, the upper levels of the ministry had been strangely quiet during his last few months as an Auror. Ever since the election. Perhaps the fellow was uncomplicated, as Botros said. He seemed like an honest man, which meant he cared for honest friends. And it seemed that honesty was about to become a point of inquiry, before something distracted him.

Sabel blinked, turning to follow the man's gaze, taking a moment and the Professor's words to direct his attention properly. His brow furrowed in wary curiosity, collecting his gloves even as the Professor spoke. "Probably a very wise idea."
