"It's supposed to be fun. Do you know what FUN in?" she teased, only MILDLY...
She watched as Clara sent this balloon up into the air and..she was SO close--
It hit the ceiling.
ooops.
Eden snorted. "You hit the highest point, at least?" Bright side? Clara had known, even when she'd just entered the room, that she wouldn't have good aim. She may have been slowly getting more athletic, better she was still clumsy and possessed terrible hand-eye coordination. Plus .... recent things ... yeah, they'd affected things, too. Heh. The entertainment factor and laughter she'd had earlier were now wearing off, leaving her feeling frustrated.
She didn't like failing, and she certainly didn't like Eden's use of the word 'stupid'. "Of course I know what fun is," she replied, trying to lighten up a little. This task was sending her mood all over the place; she'd been doubtful at first, then amused, now she was just annoyed. She gritted her teeth. "That's definitely one way to look at it." Ignoring the paint in her hair, she once again scrapped her hair back into a ponytail. "I will get it," she said, mostly to herself. She didn't even wait to see if Eden wanted another go, she just went over to the box of balloons, grabbed the first one she saw - a blue one - and set up her next shot.
This time she watched the targets carefully, imagining how Gabriel would tackle the situation. He was good with numbers and calculations .... Clara, on the other hand, just couldn't wrap her head around them. It was one of the few things she couldn't easily do. The target she was aiming for was moving in a circular motion, and was periodically blocked by the lowest target, which was moving horizontally ..... so, she'd need to time it to go up at the moment it would pass the lowest one but hit the top one. She knew that the trajectory of the balloon was 90 degrees, that was simple, but ... all the numbers and timings all together seemed overly complicated to her. Deep breaths, Wilde, she reminded herself, and lined up her shot. "ALARTE ASCENDARE!" She cried, a little quieter than she had last time, and watched the balloon.
It went up and passed the lower target - a small victory - before finally making contact with the highest target.
........... !!!!!! .... Granted, it only hit the side of the target, she'd still got it.
............... And now she was covered in blue paint, too. |
