The Gryffindor raised an eyebrow at Simon’s question. He was just about to reply with an observation on the stupidity of it when Simon seemed to catch himself, realizing how obvious it was that Ian very much existed in the Hogwarts universe. WELL. To be fair, he didn’t really go go to the school. As in, he was enrolled but skipped classes so often it was hard to remember he was still a student here.
“Yeah I do, actually.” Ian then pointed at the bottom half of the tree trunk where, in an attack of sudden uncontrollable boredom, he had carved out his name months ago.
Ian decided to drop the this-is-my-seat deal though, since he kinda sorta could stand Simon and didn’t mind him all that much. Instead, he proceeded to sit next to the boy and snatch his little diary from his hands. “So what the hell is this?” he asked, flipping through the pages like he had every right in the world.
Simon turned around to see where Ian was pointing and noticed the carving. Wow. That was pretty impressive. He didn't think that someone would actually do that but Ian seemed like a bloke who would TOTALLY do that. Simon shouldn't have expected otherwise really. He examined the carving. His eyes widened and then he chuckled. "
Merlin... That's dedication, mate," he said as he scooted out of the way so Ian could sit in his spot. "
Your spot."
And when Simon had relinquished the seat, Ian had picked up HIS detective notebook. He had had that notebook ever since he came to Hogwarts. It contained countless memories, quotes, and snippets of clues. "
Hold up, that's my notebook with observations. Be careful papers could fall out. Those are really important, " he said as he tried to reach for it.
