Later that same day, once the time had passed - and quickly between lessons, Zeke hurried down to the lake shore to check on his flag and thus the lake tide.

Taking his notebook from his bag, he checked his first entry.

The tide was six inches when he first set it up. Good to know.

Kicking off his socks and shoes and rolling up his pants, Zeke waded out into the water to check the figure on his flag post. It read 9 inches. 9 inches!!! That was a whole inch higher than it was this morning! A WHOLE INCH!

Zeke returned to shore, and with his muggle pen in hand, penned the appropriate information.

Once that was recorded, he packed his things up and left it for today... he'd revisit and try again tomorrow.

Tide seems low-ish. 3:57pm (and 30 seconds) Flagpost (12 inches); current tide reaches 9 inches; flag post inserted 2 inches below ground; actual tide height is 7 inches. Positioned two (ALMOST THREE) paces from shoreline. Tide has risen by a WHOLE inch. Why? It could be because Bartholomew whateverhisnameis is swimming around causing the tide to increase, or perhaps maybe at a great stretch of the imagination POSSIBLY the moon might be pulling the tide up, though it's more likely sir that people are using the spell you taught us in class to mess with our results.
